Summer Time 2010 ~SOUS July 30~

Summer Time 2010

So this week and since we had an extra week this month we decided to do a challenge instead of a our challenge to you is to do something Summer themed! Take that however you'd like in any kind of project you'd like! Just show us your Summer fun!

This week we were lucky enough to have a Guest Designer at Stuck on U. Thanks Jill for joining us! I am having some computer issues (namely, my kids messing with stuff!) so I am not able to leave links! So please check out SOUS, link on my side bar and you'll find Jill's page there and a link to her blog! Thanks!

Ok here's my page! Had lots and lots of fun designing this one and putting it together! These photos were from just a few days ago when my kids were enjoying themselves in thier sad little pool! LOL!

I just adore this photo! You know how hard it is the photograph little ones so this was a rare shot, I think. Love his little face! And you know this age...taking a taste of everything! LOL!

I am pretty sure most of you are used to me by now but I don't remember most of the carts I used...I used a few here. Zooballoo for a cloud, Doodlecharms for the puppy, A Childs Year for the wagon, another for the cloud and the sun and gosh, don't remember the grass, maybe Pooh? But anyways...

Hold on tight puppy, its a windy day!

At the end of putting this all together I decided to add the tone on tone buttons to the cuts. I was pretty happy with the cute addition to the page! And then the very last detail was some tone on tone doodling. Doodling is too much fun to do!

Thanks so much and I really hope some of you can carve some summer time to play with us this week! Much love!

Yosemite LO's with Queen and Co

Mountain Views

(oh my gosh so my kids messed with something on the computer this morning so I am not able to leave in links right sorry! you can of course find Generations button on my side bar and can go to the Queen and Co section found on the left side bar on that wedsite. sorry again!)

So this Queen and Co line is called Wild Things but really all I saw was camping prints! I was so excited to have recieved this line to work with from Generations Crafting...just in time to scrap my past Yosemite trip!

I used Stripes as the background. Both sides of Leaves for my photo mats. The tree border was cut from Combo. I used some other pieces as well for my Cricut cuts. Which was from my new cart...Create a Critter! I finally got it! WOO HOO!

Titles are not my favorite part of scrapbooking and are often left off of my pages but when it hit me that the word mountain would fit perfectly between my tree line..I about freaked! And once I put it together it looked even better then I imagined!

I used distress ink to stamp on the tree line with a wood grain stamp from Hero Arts. And also in black ink across my title. That subtle detail was really worth it to me.

And a close up of my little racoon buddy...who I gratefully didn't see while in Yosemite. Never had the best experience with these guys....

Nuts 4 Nature

This is the more subtle side to the Queen and Co Wild Things line. I used Circles (the brown reverse) for the background and again Combo for my stripes.

Bazzill cardstock for my title which was ut with Cuttin Up and Mickey Font, the number 4 was stamped and colored with colored pencils. Die cuts again from Create a Critter. Those a mixture of Bo Bunny, Queen and Co and kraft cardstock.

I really wanted to journal on this page and because this was Cody's 1st birthday it was even more important to do so. Since I ran out of room with all those photos I decided to put in hidden journaling behind my extra large acorn. Can you imagine what a squirrel would think if he saw something like that? LOL!!!

And lastly my animal track "buttons." The tracks was a stripe from Combo. I tried many ways of using it on the page as the actual paper but never thought it was right. So I punched it out and layered it over a couple layers of punched cereal box. Thought that looked really neat.

Thought I would share this with you all....I finally decided I needed to do something with allllll those LO's that I have stacked! If you can imagine they were in one big ol' stack until I sorted them here...what a pile! I didn't count them but maybe I will while I work on getting them into albums.

Thanks for looking and Happy Monday all!

1,2,3 Lucky Me ~SOUS July 23~

1,2,3 Lucky Me

We had a neat sketch to use this week, and if you can stand how good I am...I actually posted it here too! LOL! I am a terrible, lazy blogger! LOL!

We also have some blog candy AGAIN to offer, thanks for our supportive sponsor, Generations Crafting! Please visit Stuck on U Sketches to see the goods and to read about our requirements, hope you can play this week!!!

The DT also had a challenge to add on top of this sketch and that was to use Basic Grey's Doilies collection! Have you seen them? Very cool! So thank you again to Generations Crafting for sponsoring this great challenge!

Here I layered a bold green doily on top of a printed show off the doily even more I pulled up some of the design so it popped off the background a little more. After putting the page together I decided I wanted a runner down the side but I didn't have to right color. What did I do? I flipped to the white side and chose 3 different shades of Distress Inks to match my color scheme and voila, a perfect match!!!

In the sketch it looked like a good amount of paper layering..well I didn't want that to take away from my beautiful doily at all so I just cut out "frames" instead of whole sheets! I thought I would make it more interesting and folded them up a bit so they came off the page with a distressed look.

I don't know how other people craft, or how your pages come together but for me it comes idea by idea...very little is planned! The black mat of my photos is black vellum paper that I ran through a paper crimper. I love the texture it gives, even if its a subtle difference.

I also did some stamping on this LO. That idea came after my title did. I have a super cool number stamp set and used it here for the numbers and the written number. I also stamped the written number around the green "frame" on the page. Oh, and after all that, I stamped also on the word Lucky. The word Lucky was cut from shimmer paper, so when I stamped on the words it just showed up like a shadow effect, neat IRL!

And that's it from me!!!! But stayed tuned because I still have a wonderful mini album to show you...I just keep on forgetting to add the text and post it! LOL!

And if anyone is bored this next week...come on over, write or call! My husband is out of town, my parents, ALL my sisters, my girlfriend Donna...seriously! You ALL need to vacation the same week? Does that mean a WEEK in the house alone with all my kids? OH CRAP! Maybe someone should call me and make sure I haven't gone insain! LOLOLOLOL!!!!

Basic Grey Olivia ~Generations Crafting~

Have you worked with Basic Grey? What do you think about it? I find it to be pretty unusual. In terms of color, distressing styles, prints and designs. There is a funk factor that they have, that others don't!

Olivia and Oliver. Siblings? Friends? I have no idea but I love both lines...I started first with a couple cards here using the 6x6 Olivia stack. I haven't used Oliver yet but can't wait! What I like about Basic Grey lines, at least the non floral that it isn't necessarily guy or girl! And with having sons and a daughter, I like that a lot!

And if you like Basic Grey, Generations Crafting carriers a ton of it! You can find that here!

Ok so I think most of us have been connected somehow by the Cricut MB or its fellow members, so...have you guys checked out Just Because Cards? I just won it on Ebay and got it home and was super excited to see some of the neat things it offers. For example, that wonderful shape! I know that Storybook has some, but so does this!

I used an Imaginisce stamp for my birdie. Want some cheap? Get it? Birdie, cheap? LOL! Wow, I must seriously be dilirious after actually getting a nights sleep! Ok...stamps for cheap...right, you can find those here!

I used a tiny circle punch to punch the green from the back mat print and added that as my flower center. Added some Glossy Accents and popped in a gem while it was still wet. A great way to match your embellishments to your page!

My youngest sister has a girlfriend graduating from beauty school and she asked me to do a card for her. I was pretty excited to see this "rain drop" print in the Olivia stack. I mean how great does this go with my theme!

Congrats is cut from Wild Card, the scissors are from Everyday Paper Dolls (I think) and the Silouette is actually from Sweethearts. I blew up a bride image in Design Studio, moved it off of the mat so that only her head and shoulders would be cut...perfect for what I needed!

Who knew I'd be loving this tool so much? The IRock, it ROCKS! Its almost as cool as my brand new Iphone! LOL!

Thanks for looking y'all...I cleaned all weekend and with my chores out of the way means that I can craft some more! woo hoo!

The Happiest Place on Earth...~SOUS July 16~

The Happiest Place on Earth is with You

Well I had this done and posted both here and over at SOUS until I realized that I really didn't like it! LOL! So today I worked on adding a bit more to it. I think I would have rathered redid my banner with something smaller but I guess maybe that's for another time...

I decided to take the layering from the sketch a little further and layered the rest of my pieces. I really enjoyed the white elements on this page.

I came up with this title because the photo of Justin and I is from Disneyland. So I thought "the happiest place on earth..." Then I had the idea to make an earth (I have seen these cuts on other people's projects and have always wanted to use it!). After I was sizing this in DS I realized I could make it into a Mickey which would be awesome because of being in Disneyland! LOL! You all really needed to total play by play of this, didn't you? hahaha! (Earth cut is from Going Places)

As usual I struggle with my titles and how to pull them off...I decided handwriting would be the best here. Only after putting it all together I had really wished I had made the entire banner much smaller...oh well.

I felt like something else was missing here and really wanted to journal just a little...I used the same paper that is a print of ribbon and thought that was great to journal on! After I wrote this I thought a little harder and realized (I should have known) that I can't count and wrote the wrong anniversary! kinda fixed it.

I also put all the butterflies in couples to represent Justin and I. The row of 3 butterflies on the right of our photo represents our 3 kids (even if we had only 2 at that point!)

Sandy Windsor, I want to tell you how much I care for you and for how sorry I am to see you go...if you ever need someone to chat with, I am only a call away! Take care of yourself in everything that you do! We'll miss you SO much at Stuck on U! Love ya lots!!!

Go Baby ~Generations Crafting~

Go Baby
Okay so I know that legder paper, graph paper, notebook paper is all the rage and why wouldn't it be! A personal favorite of mine for sure! So when Basic Grey came out with the Basics line, I about freaked! The line offers a massive variety of printed paper and embellishments, everthing from stickers, journal blocks and stamps! And as if that isn't cool enough the paper comes in 3 colors, kraft, cream and white! You can find this wonderful line at my favorite shopping spot, Generations Crafting.
For this LO I used Basic White Sphere as the background paper. Basic White Census for the stamped images and Basic White Manifest for my lettering, which was cut from my Expression.

Generations Crafting has a wonderful section on the site called Yard Sale...your going to freak when you see the deals! I grabbed these (and all of them! hehe!) stamps and embossed them and added them to the page! Imaginisce Grab Em' Stamps!

Here is a close up of my title. As usual I have no idea what font I used but it did not have a shadow so I just off set another cut in black. That wasn't enough of a color change so I used a grey marker to add a bit more...

I added some stash buttons to the project and also added some detail to some of the circles in the Basic White Sphere with Glossy Accents. There are a few surprises in the circles on this printed paper so the ones that showed got a bit of a highlight with the Glossy Accents. I also added dots in 3's of this to some random circles.

So I guess because my time has been so limited lately, well not even lately, for awhile. I have been doing some more simply this one. But I have to say that I do like it. I guess thats the joy in scrapping and trying different things and different styles.

Thanks for coming by!!!

Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Nakedness!

Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Nakedness

and some hospital photos of Cody.....

As much as I am surprised that I do enjoy doing sketches now, I always look forward to our challenge week at Stuck on U! So in our theme for this month (thought up by a Finn, no less! LOL!) is patriot so this week...

stars and stripes!

That can be good and traditional or any version in between!

Our last weeks red, white and blue challenge was great but I didn't go too traditional for it so I did this time. And with such great photos, I easily felt inspired! Plus that was the day we were released from the hospital so I was happy to document that in a scrap page!

(I had to add a *star* over my little naked boy so I retook this photo indoor which is why the quality isn't as good as the others...)

I decided to do some paper weaving as my stripes! And also my first attempt at sewing..that's going to take some work! LOL! I love how the paper turned out because it totally looks and feels like a place mat! LOL! Perfect for a 4th of July LO!

I really think I ought to do ALL my titles this way! Putting them on cereal chipboard just helps them so much to stand out on the page! I first cut my title in chipboard, then cover in paper and another layer over the shadow!

Haha, just thought the ants were too cute not to add....

I layered my MS star punch with the same paper as the weaved background.

And I thought I would add some of the photos from our not so fun experience last week...this is Cody the first time in the ER. You can see his eyes are open but he is really not all there...

Even with all the wires and the huge wrap job for his IV in his arm (and one in his foot) he still managed to get into his normal sleep position...I just thought he looked really sweet here...

This one just looks worse really then it is...he was totally asleep during the entire process (well he did sleep for almost 48 hrs and I am not kidding that he slept during almost everything they did to him!). So this is when he got an EEG on his brain. It only showed that he was in a deep, deep sleep. Luckily nothing scary, like seizures showed! Thank God!

And the end it on a happy note! This is the last day when we got to go home! Look at that sweet, happy face! Awake and ready for his very favorite Cheerios! Luckily that curtain was drawn behind him because there was a very ill teen there so we couldn't have taken this photo.

Ride On ~SOUS July 2~

Ride On

a little late but here was my post for last week's sketch.....
(and yes, this was all done, I just never thought to post)

(let me try this again as I wrote most of this and apparently didn't save it! argh!) Ok! I know that this seems seriously simple but here is why...the kids and I came to my parents house to hang out this week while my husband is working. So I had one evening to do this project and pack up.

You can find today's sketch at Stuck on U Sketches. I liked the sketch but rotated it to fit my photos. We also had a challenge amongst the designers to celebrate the holiday and had a red, white and blue challenge. To my surprise I had very little paper in this color scheme. I had a very tuff time between finding paper and the right photos so I went with the color scheme still but not so much in the real 4th of July colors.

The photos are of Scotti and Jordyn at a local BMX bike track. I have done so many bike photos that now I am nervous I scrapped these photos already! LOL! Wouldn't be the first time I've done that though (or the last! LOL!)

Can I tell you all how impressed I am with the Tim Holtz Texture Fades! They are deeply embossed that they just jump off the paper! I do wonder how that will be with certain papers, these were thick enough but they still cracked when embossed. That was fine for this project because the distressing matching the feel.

I finally bought the DCWV Rock Star stack and used those prints for this page. I fussy cut the flocked flower and slid my photo underneathe. I used Basic Grey Granola letter stickers. That was my first time using them and I have to say I was super impressed with the thickness of these. Very easy to use! I gave them a layer of Glossy Accents as well. I like how that looks against the softness of the flocking. Plus because it is a clear medium you could still see the distressing on the white letters.

I had see Jennifer McGuire do some dots on a project and after doing the letters with Glossy Accents, I realized that would be perfect for the dots on this printed paper! IRL this looks amazing! A small detail but very effective!

You can also see here some of the layering. There was a lot of layering in this LO. Because the papers were white cored I distressed with a sanding block to pull out the white in the edges, which also helped enforce the white in the color scheme. I used my border punch but kept my mistakes in punching, fun silly detail.

Thanks for coming by and hope you all have a FUN and SAFE 4th of July!!!!

I can't believe we are home!

We actually were able to sleep last night, we got moved to a section with a few kids recovering from heart surgery, so it was pretty quiet. Well very quiet in comparision to the very active ICU part we had been in.

He seems fine still and without too much drama we got the rest of the samples we needed for the rest of the testing.

I feel strange being home. I can imagine what it feels like for someone to come home from a war. You come home and everything is normal except you had just came home from somewhere stressful and you can't forget what you saw.

Anyways, Scotti was happy to see me but my daughter is too busy playing to care. LOL! I did get some kisses but very reluctant ones!

We have a doctors appointment on tuesday morning with our regular peditrican.

The only and only at all "news" we got is that he had had some acid show up in a blood drawl from his first time in the hospital. And that he has not gained weight at the rate that he had before. He's little and thats fine but they want us to work on getting more into him...that and to add butter to some of his meals for the fat! LOL!

We have about 1-2 weeks for the metabolic tests to come back...I asked what they were looking for and they said that they are testing more rare things w/in the system. So I guess we'll see.

Thank you all again and again for your prayers. And I ask that you just keep us in them for a while...and I want to ask you to pray for the other kids that have stays in ICU's. I felt so lucky for us to be going home but I can't begin to tell you how I feel for all the kids that are still there. I can't imagine having gone through this experience without having the other Mothers there. Such amazing, strong and brave women, not to mention some tough kids!

I'll try and post some photos a little later...

xoxo Leah and Cody and family!
