Fathers Day 2011

Fathers Day

Before it got too late and onto the next holiday...I wanted to share the cards I made for the Dad's in my life! The first one is a card I made for my husband, not my Dad- eew! I chose a kiddy bike because the card is from the kids and cause its a bike and my husband is such a biker! LOL! The fun paper line is from Echo Park Playground.

I also used a large polka dot embossed to add some texture.

And for my Daddy. The best owl in the Cricut library IMO in Happily Ever AFter. The hollow log cut with a Nestie circle as well as dark frame. Woodgrain embossing folder by TH. That was then stamped over with a water misted music note stamp by Hero Arts. IRL there is a nice sheen to the page with a water/Perfect Pearls mixture.

Both border punches are new for me and I was happy to use them both here. Computer generated sentiment.

And lastly a handsome watercolor like stamped background. Stamp set is by Hampton Arts, but long ago I must of got rid of the packaging so no name for you. Large flourish frame by Bo Bunny. I did some inking with Distress Inks, about 4 shades of blue and also layers stamped with Versamark.

There are many layers of stamping, maybe if you click on this photo you can see some better. But it really was a nice look IRL. My Father in Law is a big warm weather guy, living in Vegas and liking to vacation in tropical destinations so I thought this would be a nice card for him.

I was crazy short on time and even managed another 2 birthday cards this day. Boy was I papered out by the end of the day...between that and my kids! Yeesh! But I'll share those cards another time.

I also wanted to say that today is the closing day for Generations Crafting. Working with and getting to know the owner and dear friend, Floren, was such a joy for me! She has been generous beyond belief and a wonderful person to be on a DT for. She also generously sponsored SOUS and we all will miss her store! Of course she's not going anywhere, LOL. But I wanted to just thank you again for all she's done for me! Love you girlfriend!

One more piece of news. Vanessa Waller, friend and owner of Scrap with V has sold her store and today starts the new ownership with Jules. I wish Jules the best and hope that I may continue of the DT there, but we'll see! Hope she picks me up again!

Lots of changes happening and hopefully all for the best! Hugs!

Mutton Busting!

Hey gals! I wanted to share with you all what we did this weekend...we went to the Alameda Country Fair and my studly son decided he was going to this year finally ride the sheep. They call it Mutton Bustin'...the toughest sport on wool! LOL!

Here are some photos....

The longest 2 seconds of my son's life.......

But it was all worth it for the awesome medal he won! So proud of you Scotti! The day was also the best because I came away with some killer photos...can't wait to scrap them! =)

Here is just a couple others....

Daddy's Girls? ~SOUS June 24~

Daddy's Girls?

Reveal day folks! Yay! And we've got a guest designer Shona...and some news about her so go check that out at Stuck on U Sketches!
So okay sometimes we scrap right? Sometimes we rock it out and sometimes we fail (well that's kinda harsh but you know what I mean)...well this time I gotta say I am really happy (which is a great change for the previous project for SOUS, LOL!) Okay I know it sounds stupid cause I'm the one that did it and honestly I am laughing at myself but here we go...what I like so much about this is the pop of color agains't the kraft background. Its amazing sometimes using neutrals with color, love that!

Okay and the photo! This is sooooo perfectly my family! LOL! We surprised my Dad by all wearing mustaches on Fathers Day, around 5 years ago. We grabbed stuff around the house that went with our style stash and there you go! LOL!

Here is a close up of my banner, black twine laid out and adhered with Glossy Accents. Banner itself is a stamp set, Banner Builder, by Papertrey Ink.

The border is popped and after making the twine "bow" I decided to hit it under everything and top it off with an extra large button. Border is a mix of using border punches and also a border strip from the Hopscotch line. All the paper is from Basic Grey, either the Basic or Hopstotch.

And lastly my little journaling spot!

Thanks for the visit friends!

Summer Vacay 2011

Hello dear friends!

I believe Summer has just started for most of us and I hope its been a good beginning for you all...

We're home now from our week's vacation in Yosemite and now its time to start thinking again about house work but more importantly (hehe) what to start next for scrapping!

Our trip was great but started with car trouble. It added on around 8 hours of extra car rides to get our truck fixed but its done now and didn't damper the trip all too much.

I actually have a handful of cards to share but I'll start today with some of our trip photos...many of which you'll come across again in my layouts I am sure.

But let me start with a BIG......

Happy Birthday Cody!

My little guy just turned 2 and I can't believe it....

The man hanging out watching the kids ride and in front of our camping site....(the one of two in the park that we can actually fit our trailer and car into! LOL!)

One of the views coming into the park.....

This is actually in Wawona. The amazing part is that here in California we boast the world's largest trees and here the Mariposa Grove of giant sequoia's are found only in this number right here. They were amazing to say the least! If you'd like to see more photos here is the link to see them...some photos are from the 1800's so they are pretty cool!

We were quite a hit in the park with this bike! Its called a Madsen and can hold seat belted 4 children or 400 pounds, which means that yes, even I have taken a ride! LOL!

One of the most amazing parts is all the flooding. It increased as the week went on and the day we left the bridge and this path were completely flooded! No way we'd get our bikes through that! But the day we were able to ride through was soooooooooooo cool!

With the snowfall at 300% the waterfalls were incredible, to say the least but there were also many, many other waterfalls randomly around the's one! =)

Great photos of these 2 together are pretty rare but I got a ton of them on the trip! And then pretty much none of the 3 kids together...what can ya do? LOL!

Cody up at Mirror Lake. How on earth children can stand that snow cold temperatures is beyond me! We were all pretty pooped at this point because we had ridden about 8 miles (at least my hubby, myself and Scotti). I came back a couple pounds lighter from all the riding we did!

Thanks for letting me share and I'll be back with Father's Day and birthday cards to share soon...

Soar ~Scrap with V~

Good day friends! We are still on vacation but had scheduled this special layout to share with you for Scrap with V today! You can find the sketch there and I hope you can pop by and see what the rest of the DT has come up with as well!

I used Echo Park's Little Boy collection for this. I am madly in love with this company! =)

The wonderful photo (that my husband said was awful but is so not true...) is my eldest son Scotti. Who is in a big time airplane faze so this one was for him! He said "thanks Mom!" LOL!

I used a good number of cartridges on this. The swirl from Wild Card (I think) and the plane and Soar font is from Boys Will Be Boys, the clouds are from Create a Critter. I did some inking on most of this page, using a mix of Tumbled Glass and Broken China distress ink. Buttons are from my stash. And photo editing was with Photoshop Elements 9 (for adding text).

And I think that covers it! I have really been enjoying doing so many boy pages lately...something always so happy about them! And imagine what I'll be coming up with next after this week vacation! LOL!

See you guys soon....sure by the time this posts I'll be craving my computer and scrap room! LOL!

Woodland Family Vacation ~SOUS June 10~

Woodland Family Vacation

Just wanted to personally thank those that came and visited Stuck on U Sketches for the Summer Kick Off blog hop! Had such a good time and loved reading every comment! =)

Today's post is for much as it is a nice sketch, dang was I not feeling this one. Again, nothing wrong with it, just some fit and some don't or maybe it was the mood. Ya know? And I really wanted to use these photos as I thought it was time to start scrapping some past photos. These must have been right after Justin proposed, cause I have a real nice solitare on one finger! LOL! That and my niece Maddie was just a lil' one.

And a close up of my title. "Woodland" stamped with a wood grain stamp, kinda perfect. LOL! Family are letter stickers by Echo Park.

And I believe my cuts are from Winter Woodland. Also above I added a small year stamp into the pinecone. The cuts are all inked the paper edges distressed but otherwise its a simple page. I do really like though that the photos really are the stars here.

Ok folks, looks like a short and simple write up for me..goes with the page I suppose.

Please forgive me as I've be pretty quiet. This was the last week of school and we are on vacation as we speak! =) I won't be online for awhile and will check in when we get back. I have a post scheduled but otherwise all will be quiet on the home front....but see you guys soon!

Blog Hop!

Today marks a great blog hop between a few of our favorite challenge blogs. Come by to see so much inspiration, meet lots of new friends and try for some great blog candy.

The blog hop will be between challenge sites, not individual blogs so it shouldn't be too time consuming.

And as a thank you to our incredible DT at Stuck on U Sketches...we've shared some of their wonderful work with you there, so please check it out! And by doing so and leaving a comment you'll be entered in to win some wonderful Bo Bunny blog candy from Floren at Generations Crafting.

Good luck and have fun hopping!

And here is the blog hop order....

Stuck on U Sketches (you are here)

Don't forget to leave comments along the way! And have fun!

Oh and do you mind if I toot my own horn?...No? Okay well....I made the Cricut Chirp! I'm just excited because I've been on the board for years and this is only my second time (the first for a layout that had almost no Cricut on it, go figure). Thanks for letting me share and I wanted something crafty to post here as well, even if it will be a repeat... =)

Oh Boy a Summer Surprize

Oh Boy a Summer Surprise

I come to you on this glorious wednesday to share with you a project for my last day at Whimsical Wednesday. Stephanie had set up short terms for us gals, 3 months and its over in a flash! I have to say how much I enjoyed my time there and the challenges, how happy I am to be on the very first team for the new blog!

So the first wednesday of the month is the scrapping challenge and this month is~ Summer and Stamping! Nice combo!

The sweet photos are the kids holding their new baby brother, 2 summers ago. And that means my baby is almost a few weeks! Wow!

I used a big mix of scrappy stuff on this page. All stamping comes from Papertrey Ink. The Banner Builder set (boy banner along with a button stamp), Friendship Jar, Mini Scrapbook Series: Tabs (bottom border) and Background Basics: Newsprint (background in right jar).

Letter stickers by Basic Grey. Unknown Cricut font (LOL!) MS butterfly punch (butterfly and border) and EK Success border punches.

Handmade roasting stickers and marshmallows (in honor of my daughter who's most favorite thing is marshmallows! LOL!)

This is a good one to show the bottom, all the punches and layering. Stamping that scallop border and laying it out took some time but was really worth it!

Thanks again to Stephanie for having me at WW!!!! And don't forget to can get a new stamp set from My Creative Time! Yay! More details at WW!!!
