Love Blooms Here ~SOUS November 25~

Happy Thanksgiving!
I wanted to extend my greetings to all of you on this wonderful American holiday.
To me, this is nothing about turkey and pilgrims but allllll about
being thankful! I think this day needs to happen a bit more often here in America.
Maybe then we could get back on track as a country.
But anyways, LOL!
I want you to know that you, my dear friends, play a huge roll
this day for what I am thankful for.
Love ya all!

something is wrong with my scheduling and I don't know why this won't post tomorrow so this is for friday's post, just a day early. sorry.

Love Blooms Here

Today is post day for Stuck on U Sketches and we've got a sketch by Pagemaps. I did this page with a girlfriend of mine, she did something similar as well. My friend Brandi is kinda new-ish at scrapping and so we're working together on projects.

Solids are Bazzill and prints are by K&Company. I've used a bit of vellum over the print that is under the photo. This photo is off my kiddo's holding their baby brother for the firs time. They had on bright pink and yellow (yikes) so the whole color scheme was pulled out because of that.

These handmade flowers were put together from Mothers Day Bouquet. There are about 6 layers, the outside layers turned down a bit, the inside pulled up.

Kept my text to a minimum because I'm bathing the kids and sitting on the toilet (and I mean with the seat down, not that kind of "sitting" LOL) while posting this and thought...hum, well if anytime I do some shorter would be now! LOL!
The kids and I have been back and forth between home and my parents all week and it's been great fun spending time with everyone and cooking! Here's to leftovers! LOL!

See you all soon! Great work on the layouts this week my SOUS gals!

Place Cards for Thanksgiving

I'm as shocked as the rest of you are but I'm actually posting something that isn't DT related at all! LOL! However, not too far from the DT world because this was indeed inspired by some fabulous DT ladies from Stuck on U Sketches. My friends Faith Abigail and Wanda! It started with Faith's place setting cards for her Thanksgiving table and then the turkey with the leaves from Wanda's card, both DT projects from this post.

So I started with a kraft cardstock base, paper from Basic Grey and then the top layer a neat light blue and green kraft by My Minds Eye. Embossed with a folder by TH, though I don't recall the name, it certainly reminded me of some text from the pilgrim days. =)

I inked with some different brown shades of Distress Inks. Cut the turkey from Doodlecharms and punched the leaves from a Martha punch. I'll need to add small strips of paper with the names over the embossed shape (something I only thought about after putting these together, duh!)

And here's a few of them....well a few of the 20 I made! LOL! I can't wait to see them on the table! And I guess because of the size of our group that we're going to set Thanksgiving up on one table and then all sit together at another. Cool! Leaves more room for decorating without all the food everywhere and no problems then with the longggg process of "please pass the gravy!" LOL!

So I'll be back friday with my SOUS post but for now....I hope that you all will have an incredible, blessed holiday and know that I feel so lucky, beyond lucky to have made so many lovely and talented friends! I can't imagine my life any differently and I have no idea what life would be like without this hobby. Not just a hobby to me, but a lifeline. And let me tell you, that as much as I enjoy creating...I enjoy your friendships even more!

Happy Thanksgiving from California!

Putting Up The Lights ~The Cutting Cafe~

Putting Up The Lights

Oh I am so tickled with this little project! My son built something different with his lego's today and I asked if he learned that from watching something on youtube. And he had. But I told him not to feel bad, that inspiration comes from all sorts of places! The idea for this tall card also came from youtube. I was watching card video's and then when I came across this sentiment in the awesome set called Christmas Daily 2 from The Cutting Cafe...well at that point it all came together!

I used the Cricut Craft Room (which again will only print and not cut for me, so another hand cut job, argh!) But I just adore how this turned out! Cuts are from Create a Critter. I used color coordinating Stickles for each light bulb. I also white embossed some stars on the background (another inspiration from watching this card tutorial).

And the very fun sentiment! I love how you can get ideas just from reading a the whole concept for this card. But do check out the Christmas Daily sets because there are a ton, and I mean a ton of things here to work with!

Sweet! Thank you for coming by! The kids and I are spending the week at my Mom's. Starting to get things prepared before Thanksgiving dinner. Doing pies together as a family which is great, plus I really need the advice! LOL! I'm the only one that seemed to miss the baking/cooking genes. My poor kids. Hopefully I'll be visiting you soon...see you soon!

Pie ~SOUS November 18 Thanksgiving Table~

Oh goodness, sorry this is a little late. Apparently I keep having issues with blogger actually posting my scheduled posts. I'm sure somehow it's my error but not sure.

So...happy Friday friends! About a week before Thanksgiving...are ya ready? I am! I've said no treats in my life until Thanksgiving day and I can't wait for PIE! Yum! Yum! Yum!

I knew I wanted to make a card for my Mom and really wanted to do something "pie" so here's what I came up with. Oh and speaking of pie...our Die Cut Challenge for this time around at SOUS is...Thanksgiving Table, hence...the pie! LOL!

I made a shaped card by welding a couple file shapes together from the From My Kitchen cartridge. I used
another file for the photo insert as well.

I love dry embossing on pattern paper. Easy and great effect! There's some inking, faux stitching and brown shimmer spray (which as always doesn't photograph).

And a simple but sweet little pie! =)

And the photo inside. This way my Mommy can have the photo, put it where ever she wants but also have the card as well, and it leaves plenty of space for me to write. I always write a ton in cards! =) And if you are wondering..."Marco" is the name my Mom was given by one of my nieces as a baby, instead of Grandma. So she's known by all family as Marco! LOL!

Have an incredible weekend friends...hope to get some good blog visiting done this week as I'm visiting with family. Hopefully! While helping to cook Thanksgiving dinner for about 20 people! Fun! See you all soon....

Gobble ~The Cutting Cafe~

I don't even think one Gobble is enough to say about this page! LOL! I created this warm, fun little layout for this week at The Cutting Cafe. All the Cutting Cafe images come from Thanksgiving Day. You know some files has this and that but this one is full of goodness so you really ought to check it out!

I've used some warm tones from my stash and the houndstooth pattern paper is DCWV but everything else is Cutting Cafe. I did some hand drawn border lines and those are quickly becoming a favorite finishing touch for me!

These wonderful photos are from last Thanksgiving. My Daddy working with the turkey (that are always bigger then my babies). Myself and my sister Amy. Then my daughter Jordyn and my niece Nina. I think they both look more alike then anyone else in the family. And then a super sweet little photo of my other niece Maddie and Jordyn on the kitchen floor, the way Jordyn is sitting makes her look teeny tiny! =)

Love love this background print! Love myself some text paper!

I printed this a couple times and cut with circle Nesties. Colored and inked edges. Way sweet image!

The rest of the details are mixes of goodies from my stash. Iamroses leaves, felt leaves from my stash, Prima flowers, rhinestones, a MS punch and just some paper layering. And of course...more, Gobble, Gobble! LOL! Oh, lastly I did spray here and there with brown Tattered Angels chalkboard mist, just can't tell too well in these photos.

Thank you so much for coming by! I've had such a good time being on this team with these talented ladies and thank Regina for inviting me to become a part of their team! Lucky girl! =)
And with Thanksgiving only next week...this layout made me extra excited for more family time! Hope you all feel the same...

Happy Holidays ~ABC Challenges D for Dazzle~

Happy Holidays

It's a very early morning post for me and I don't know about you, but I'll still be sleeping when this comes up! LOL! Today is second post day of the month for the ABC Challenges and we've got an extra good challenge this time around...D for Dazzle. And let's all just say that without the dazzle our projects just wouldn't be as good!

I made this sweet wreathe into an ornament after designing it and realizing I didn't want to give it away
as a card! LOL! Tell me I'm not the only one that has thought this before...

This design is from Joys of the Season Cricut cart. I've used the shadow and layers and popped each. All the edges are inked and sprayed with Tattered Angels chalkboard mists (in a white and brown) for that extra dazzle (which won't of course photograph but is stunning in person).

I gave the title it's own shine with Stickles Glitz. And my handmade flower (cuts from Mothers Day Bouquet) is also sprayed with the shimmer mist and then Stickles added to the petal tips.  The extra bling comes in with the large glitter brad and the red berry gems, and more Stickles for the embossed leave layer on the wreath.

I really enjoyed making this and this was the first project I completed at the scrapping retreat I just attended this past weekend. I can't crank out 20 pages like some of the ladies did but I did come away with some little jewels like this (just so glad I can keep it! ha!)

Thanks for coming by and do stop in to see the other beautifully dazzling projects at ABC...and check out our sponsor...Bugaboo and how you could win 7 stamps! Awesome!

Nov 11 SOUS sketch

Family Fun

Now it's hard to see a bit because of the prints...but I really did follow my girlfriend Nanne's sketch very well! LOL! She made a great sketch for today's reveal day at Stuck on U Sketches, super love what she has done! Love the opportunity to play with some layered papers.

These great prints are from the Splash line from Echo Park, this past Summer's release and the rest are mixes of DCWV and other pieces from my stash. The cuts...pretty much all from Life's a Beach. I guess since we live near the ocean and do lots of Summer stuff...I'm always going to have uses for that cart. This is a family photo though from March 2011 when we visited family in Las Vegas. My husband, our kids, his sister and her kids! There's always got to be some fussy faces when you get that many kids together, Ha!

The title piece is a phrase from Lifes a Beach, then I just fit extra fishes over and popped them, while debossing the background. The fish on the page all have matching Stickles and Distress Ink to dress them up.

I cut the mermaid tail from glitter paper and the scallops were cut enough to just roll the paper up a that look. And her flower in her hair is a MS punch. I took a small circle sticker from the Echo Park collection and gave her a "pearl" to hold. A tip for added rosy cheeks...I use the eraser from a pencil and dip it in Worn Lipstick Distress Ink (and then always test for color on the backside of the paper).

I really love the movement of the coral embossed with Divine Swirls, also inked in coordinating colors. I also added some fiber to the page.

Last bit is the tag I made. I used the "just add water" sticker, over white paper and then hand cut to fit. I really wanted to journal a bit about the kids ages during this visit.

Goodness..that was a lot! LOL! I hope you'll get a chance to visit the rest of the ladies at SOUS and see their projects and get a chance to play along yourself!

Love Notebook ~The Cutting Cafe~

This week for The Cutting Cafe we were asked to play with the wonderful file called Jot It Down. This set is really wonderful and has a TON of things on it, so much so that pretty much any paper crafter would get a lot of use of the this set, not just a little. And that's got to be the best set out you could use over and over... anniversary is coming up and so I thought to make something a little different then just a card. So using the "lined paper" from the set, I made my own notebook. The cover is done with some different kraft card stocks. Embossed with a flourish in clear powder and then the flower stamped in white and hand cut and layered.

The brad is by K&Company and the stickers on the belly band are Mrs Grossmans.

Here's a photo from a few years ago, really love this of us...
The "remember" is from the set as well, cut in half.

I need to example myself that the embellishments inside are all flat because I wanted it to close..but I just look at this and think something needs popped! LOL! At least I added some glitter to the heart...LOL!

There are some pages in between where I can write to my hubby...and this last page I used a tiny paper bag, folded and stuck in these cute pieces from the set...there's also a spot in the top for another teeny tiny little note.

I thought this was a fun project to make and something just a little different then just giving a card...I think I will make these more often. I love writing in cards so I could use the extra room! =0)

I leave in a few days for a scrapbooking retreat so I want to apologize for probably not getting around to many blogs this week! Though I am sure you all understand! And can I tell you...I'm a SAHM with 3 little kids and I don't even get 2 hours a week to is REALLY a needed break! LOL!

The End of a Season ~November 4 Die Cut Challenge Leaf~

The End of A Season

Hello Friends! So today finds us into November...I can barely believe it! As much as I love the holidays more then anything, it always somehow saddens me that they've come around again because it shows really how quickly time flies. And these most precious photos are almost a year old now. There are so many emotions I feel with this that I wouldn't even know where to begin...

So let's ignore the teary woman behind the blog (LOL) and get onto the first Die Cut Challenge for November for Stuck on U Sketches. And our challenge is...

(be careful, not Leah, don't go doing scrapbook pages all about me, LOL!)

I've done a happy Fall scene here. Using the tall tree from Stretch Your Imagination and a photo of each of my babies in the front yard. Every year since each of their births I have taken photos in the leaves.  I love to have them from each year to count on...

Another special thing about the page is that I have met a new friend. She isn't too new to scrapping but new to the idea of die cut machines. So when I designed this page using my Imagine and choosing colors for the cuts (most but not all) we printed 2 so she has a similar page as well. And then step by step I showed her how to add details to the page. So this page will hold that memory as well of being able to scrapbook with a friend. Very special!

The pumpkins are from Pooh and Friends cart. The pumpkins were popped from the green layer and stamped with a text stamp (by Papertrey Ink). The squirrel from Happily Ever After has an embossed tail and a pearl for the eye and nose.

I do believe this apple basket is also from Pooh and Friends. The birdie from Happily Ever after. I thought something a little different for the leaf challenge and included die cuts that already had leaves built into the die (instead of all separate leaves). The basket was embossed with Distressed Stripes. Both the apples and the bird have been stamped with a small polka dot and dusted with Perfect Pearls (gold for the apple and blue for the bird, but wouldn't photograph.) You can also see some of the extra die cut and punched leaves with stamping and embossing.

The wonderful tree. Stamped with a woodgrain pattern and edges inked. That sweet owl, from Happily Ever After is adorned with a pink glittery heart on his chest, black pearl eyes (as for all the critters on the page). Clouds added just peeking around the top of the page were also dry embossed.

As for a title. Though not on here yet, I'll maybe add one later...but titles are not my strong suit. I didn't find one that I liked until writing this blog post. But we'll see if I really pull this out and finish it...

So goodness...I've certainly been chatty today! LOL! So off you go....go see the what the other gals have done as well at SOUS...see you soon!

Home ~ABC Challenge C for Crochet Flowers~

I am excited to share this little project with you guys today! Today is the 1st and that means the first challenge at ABC Challenges! is C is for Crochet Flowers! That's a cool challenge with a great sponsor...

I am honestly speechless that it's already November. I mean...where the heck did October go? Where does each month go? LOL! But I am always excited for Turkey Day and some time off with the kids at home! I just hope they don't all go insane from lack of stuff to do! But really...onto my project!

I wanted to make something for my friend Brandi. A church friend who comes over each week with her kids and we spend the day together. I made this before I found out that they would be moving but the timing is kinda perfect for this. I am going to miss seeing her so often but she's moving to the Sacramento area and promised to still come when she can! Yay!

The idea was to put this little 6x6 into a frame but I haven't found anything I like yet so I am going to show it as is. I've layered some Webster Pages papers together, a busy print under a more simple vellum sheet. I love how the layers of images look! The center piece is a Webster Pages journaling piece.

And my crocheted flower for the challenge. My one and only crocheted anything...I almost panicked at the challenge but thought I had seen something once in my stash (had to do some digging!) I've done a good amount of layering with Prima blooms, leaves and punched leaves.  The word "home" is a metal accent.

To mimic the sheen in the metal piece I clear embossed a large corner flourish stamp on the side here. I took a ton of photos and had a tough time getting something photographed but I think you can tell well enough. I've added centers to all the flowers and swirled some jute around the page. I love the textures to this little project!!!

I hope that you will go by and see what the other gals did at ABC...I am sure they will impress! So thanks for coming by and see you soon everyone! Happy November 1st!
