Dirt Girl ~SOUS September 30~

Dirt Girl

Friday! Yay! One more day of laps walking or riding to school and I get a couple days off! LOL!

I am excited to share this project today as it's a fun one! =)  The sketch challenge is for Stuck on U Sketches and is by Liz Qualman. We've used her sketches very often in the past but haven't for awhile now that we often share original sketches, glad to see one today! You can check that out at SOUS.

Here is my take...

These super awesome flowers come from Just Because Cards. I don't see too much done with that cartridge but I really love that one! The bee and hive from Pooh and Friends and the title Girl from Storybook. All the die cut elements are popped on the page and I love how alive it makes it all feel!

Honestly I used so much on here that it would take me all day to name everything. I do know that I used only Tim Holtz embossing folders for the flowers. Flocked the bee's wings, stamped here and there...buttons, twine...

I caught my VERY dirty girl in the backyard rubbing these mats on herself (they are supposed to be under the playhouse in the back). It was literally black and I just couldn't believe it...the next moment she's in the toddler water table washing herself off! LOL!

I did a good amount of inking on all the cuts, greens and oranges. I got this idea to add this wormy from Pooh and Friends and then almost squealed when I had the idea to take a tiny flower hole punch and have some munched leaves! =)

I'm seriously not even gonna worry about paper....there's more on here then I can count and I don't know that I could list it all even if I tried! =)

Thanks sooo much for coming by! You've just G O T to see what the other gals did...all WAY different pages this week and so fun to see! Have a super weekend super crafters!!! LOL!!!

ABC Challenge Blog...a new DT for me!

Hi friends!

I come by quickly tonight to tell you all know that I'll be joining a new design team for the ABC Challenge blog!

I had always really loved this blog, loved the challenges and their team. I am sure you can figure by the name that the challenges are based off the letter of the alphabet. Its really cool! And posting is twice a month of the 1st and 15th. I like that and its easy to follow along just knowing the dates ahead of time.

They had thought they might be closing shop but NO, luckily not...so with that the relaunch will take place on October 1st!

There will be GREAT projects to see, a chance at winning some candy! Hope you see you there!

Love, Leah

Happy Fall ~The Cutting Cafe~

Happy Fall

Good morning everybody! I don't know about you all, well I could go ahead and guess y'all feel the way that I do...its the end of September? What! Does that mean the holidays are here? (I certainly hope so cause I have already been sneaking Halloween stuff out around my house! LOL)

I am sharing today a post for The Cutting Cafe. Today set Welcome Fall has so much to offer...sentiments, imagery. Its really a great go-to for Fall! I put together a few of the sentiments from the set using my photo editing software and printed on Kraft card stock. Then I cut a few of the other images  separately. I got this pretty little plant from my sister Kerri for my birthday and I wanted to dress it up a bit.

I fussy cut and popped the pumpkin and acorn's and watercolored them using Distress Inks. I love that soft effect and you'll see me do that A LOT with The Cutting Cafe images.

I did a bit of inking of the edges and just a bit of doodling with a gold metallic pen. This really was a simple way to really dress up a rather plane plant...it must be cute because everyone that's come into my house has mentioned it, not the plant...but the tag! =) LOL!

Don't forget to visit the rest of the ladies as well....lots of Fall inspiration I am sure! Take care!

New School ~SOUS September 23 Heart Die Cut Challenge~

New School

I love love the new Die Cut Challenges at Stuck on U Sketches! I am such a happy girl that we added these challenges not only because I've enjoyed them but I am using my machines AND we have such an incredible DT as well! Love that, love those girls! You can find them here

Oh...the challenge?....HEART! Let's see that very loved shaped in all kinds of ways...show us whatcha got! LOL!

This project was designed and cut for the first time (for me) as one of the Beta testers for the Cricut Craft Room (CCR). I am pretty happy so far with that software and for Imagine owners its going to be a must!

The heart was designed as a shaped card. Printed and cut with the Imagine as well as the apples (from who knows what cart cause I never remember). But guess what happened...my %#$W^ paper moved so I had to hand cut allllllll those apples. Good grief! =) The end result...very worth it! Layered some of the apples and popped just a couple.

The banner was hand cut, the lines are from a Papertrey Ink stamp set as well as the A+ and star, New School is hand written. I added the triple bow, chipboard star and button as a final touch. This card is a standard size and really is so cute in person.

I made this as a greeting card for my son's 1st grade teacher. We're new to the older grades so she is a first for us and I wanted to tell her that I look forward to the year and to getting to know her. I'll be volunteering in the class each week so I hope to get the chance to definitely learn more!

See you all sunday with another post...and make sure to check out the "heart" that my other friends are showing at SOUS today! See you soon.....

1st Grade ~The Cutting Cafe~

1st Grade

Hello! Hello! We've made it to our mid-week which means I am only 2 days away from a weekend away! What?!? Not only away but a wedding and up in California's famous Napa valley for a wine vineyard wedding! Nice! My younger sister's best friend is the bride and as a wedding gift I've offered to do the bride's maids makeup for the event. For those of you that don't know but I've mentioned before, I used to do makeup before having kids. Sometimes I think about doing freelance but scheduling is difficult and what's even more difficult are brides. LOL! I'm a lil' too low key for that big day! Ha! I'll share some photos next week of my weekend away (thanks to Daddy for staying home with the 3 babes all weekend!)

Today I'd like to share my project for The Cutting Cafe. Regina has the BEST assortment of Bingo cards! Bingo cards for all occasions! Its the best and since they are hot hot hot, its a great way to be able to reuse and print them as many times as you want! I used the Fall Time Bingo set, there is a ton of stuff in this file! Check that out here

My paper is by My Mind's Eye and was a stack I got at Hobby Lobby while visiting last Spring in Las Vegas. Really great stack, lots of glitter, even for boys! =)

I did some photo editing with this first day of school photo of Scotti...converted the photo to black and white and then removed that to show the color in just him.

This photo shows some goody layering. I cut and used the Bingo cards as a deck. The 3D stickers are Bo Bunny Learning Curve and the stars were fussy cut from the pattern paper.

More stickers, letter stickers and fussy cutting. I used a chalk white pen and followed the curve of this die cut piece and really like that subtle detail (will do that again for sure!).

Thanks for coming by and hope that you'll take some time to check out what the other gals did with the Bingo cards...and check out what the shop has to offer! There's a ton to see! =)

Disney Dreamer ~SOUS September 16~

Disney Dreamer

Hello folks! Hope everyone is well! We've had some sicko's in the house this week..seems like the year just started for this to happen so early. Argh! But its nothing too bad. Ok so enough of that. Tomorrow I get to go to a Craft and Hobby show that also is hosting an all day crop..and I get to go thanks for my girlfriend Noey! Thanks girl! You have no idea how crazy I am going to be, I don't even get a couple hours a month to myself so an all day event is certainly a treat!

And onto my friday post for Stuck on U Sketches...Sandi chose a project from The Flying Unicorn and they also are hosting our blog candy for the month. Pretty fitting! You can see that over at SOUS and also remember, the more you play in our challenges this month, the more chances to win! Yeah!

So I don't know about how you scrap but usual I find a photo that works with the sketch, see if any ideas come to mind for it, if not, I keep going through photos. But either way, I always start with a picture. I had played with this photo in Photoshop and then came across it the other day and put it out. As soon as I saw the sketch I knew I could substitute a shape for the large Mickey and off I went...

Not that I could do it again (LOL) but I was able to play and edit out all the color from the photo except for Scotti and the apple. So cool. Those colors lead me to these. The prints are a serious mix from my stash. The Mickey text is Echo Park. The red is Bazzill and I believe the rest is DCWV. I embossed the white core black paper and then sanded until the white shone through.

I did a good amount of doodling on this page and you can see a little bit of that here...and the ribbon border as well.

I did some layering here and also stamping on the blue pieces (dream and the dog bone). You can also see the fun, funky doodling here as well. I took the time to multi mat the photo as well and have it really pop against the frame. Lots of layering or papers for this whole page.

I had a great, great time putting this page together. I actually did this page is segments. All the layering once and then all the details later. The later being after my Gypsy broke. Argh. But thanks to Provo its was replaced! Yay!

See you soon...but not til you've visited the rest of me ladies at SOUS! Hehehe!

With Gratitude- Thanks! ~The Cutting Cafe~

With Gratitude- Thanks!

Hello Hello ladies (and the very few gentlemen =) ! I have my second DT project to share for The Cutting Cafe. We were asked to use the new set...With Gratitude. I love this set! I think there are many options for this, not just a thank you card, but holiday as well...

This card was for sure a gratitude card and a thank you....my daughter started kindergarten this year and her teacher was my oldest son's teacher from last year. She is such a wonderful teacher and my appreciation for her getting my daughter into her class again...well it means so much! Plus Jordyn says "she's the bestest teacher in the world!" And who could argue with that! =)

I used a background print from the set (text background), the stripes (which was punched and embossed then inked). I took and layered another piece of the stripes and embossed and inked that as well. Inking it green to match the card. I also embossed the text background as well.

And another photo to show that I printed this piece and sized it to cut out with Nesties and layer. I had thought another layer but this barely fit in the envie..glad I didn't! =)

Glad you came by and glad to be sharing new DT projects...can't wait to share more! See you soon...

Babe and Bob

Babe and Bob

Hi guys! I got to do this layout for fun this weekend. That and I fact that I've been in the house an entire week without going anywhere (well, not including the millions of times to school).  Anywho, I had wanted to do this for awhile because of the story behind the title. I had some wonderful photos of Scotti and Jordyn from Yosemite and so started my page...

*EDIT* How silly am I... not to even share the story behind the page. Babe and Bob. My littlest Cody doesn't really talk too much (he's 2) and so he calls his big bro Scotti- Ba Ba (bro bro) but for short he'll call him Bob...its totally hilarious hearing him called out "Bob! Bob!" and then sister, Jordyn he called Baby (sounds more like Bebe) and for short, calls her Babe! Its the cutest thing and for SURE will be something our entire family will remember forever!

I also had really wanted to join some challenges so I was able to include some as well...

The Tinkerbell and canoe idea came from...can you guess? =o)
And the colors for the page? From the same inspiration! Which was also great and went so well with the card inspiration for CASE Study that I wanted to share it there as well.

Tink was cut in white and only her hair done in a layer. I watercolored her using Distress Inks. Pressing the color onto a mat and an H2O paint pen. I gave her a 3D flower for her hair and added Picket Fence Distress Stickles to her wings.

Letters are from Lyrical Letters cart (my only wish is that that cart would have done shadows for all the fonts, but still, a really cool cart if you haven't looked into it before...) Little Red Wagon wanted die cuts so I used my sweet friend, my Cricut for the title, Tink and canoe!

And some other computer generated journaling.

This part is layered with striped paper. Extra layers of very thin cut papers to match and layers of twine. Pile It On had a "layer it" challenge, which also gave me the idea for the vellum!
And flowers! Pearls...here comes in the challenge for The Paper Variety (favorite embellishments!)

Last challenge...Do You Stack Up? Texture. Well in person this really does have a lot of texture. The smoothness of the vellum, the chunky glitter, the twine, buttons, the layered paper...all of that adds depth and texture and makes you want to touch the page. Texture can change a project into something amazing...great challenge! =)

And that does it! Thanks ahead of time to the DT's for coming by and visiting me...I know how much time that takes everyone and the love is much appreciated! We've got a kind community here! =)

Spooky Banner and Flower Tutorial ~Flower Die Cut Challenge SOUS~

Spooky Banner and Flower Tutorial

Hello ladies! I hope today's post finds you all well! I am excited to share my project today for Stuck on U Sketches. Today we've got a die cut challenge and its one almost allllllll of you can play in...FLOWERS! Oh yeah! Talk about possibilities! So get out those die's, pull out your machines and let us see something pretty! Or...Spooky...as in my case! LOL!

At the end of the post I will be sharing a video on making these flowers. I am pretty nervous to share video's because, well honestly, I can't handle listening to myself, its true..but I still wanted to share these. They are just too cool in real life and everyone that see's these can't believe they are handmade. =)

Here's my banner hanging on the wall in my kitchen.

And some individual photos of each banner piece and flower.

Banner paper is the new Halloween stack by DCWV. Embossed with CB folders and inked. Other paper is Basic Grey Basic's. Each circle is stamped with either a woodgrain or a grid pattern. Letters are Basic Grey and those are covered with Crackle Accents. Die cuts are either CB or Sizzix (flourishes).

I hope you enjoy the video and that it covers the making of this flower well enough...thanks for watching! Some details I may have forgotten to share...flower cut is Walk in my Garden (there is one with these sharp edged petals, really cool).  And I used a glue gun for the first time in something like this and think I am hooked..easy, quick and way cheaper then other adhesives.

And don't forget to see the GORGEOUS examples at SOUS...great work this week ladies!!!!

Biker Boy ~The Cutting Cafe~

Biker Boy

Welcome friends! Today I am so very excited to be posting my very first project for The Cutting Cafe
This week we had a kind of "anything goes" or really, our favorites from the shop. We do so much biking in our family and start them young, I knew I wanted to play with the Lets Go For A Ride set. Too cute! (yes I am aware he isn't riding a bike in these photos but hey..I used what I could find! LOL!)

I opened these files in Photoshop Elements 9 and moved some of the bike images around and printed using them as a printed paper. I also fussy cut another bike to use as an embellishment. And a few pieces (Hello my name is, 12345 and Remember This) are from Jot it Down- great journaling pieces!

No matter what, I could not get the glitter pen to show up in the photo. But the bike was outlined with a glitter pen and it added a nice accent to my pencil colored image. You can also see some of the layering here as well.

And I did a bit of stamping on the page as well, to fill in some of the space and add some more color.

A simple page and a 8 1/2 by 11 at that! This is going into Cody's baby book! =)

Travel Log ~SOUS September 2~

Travel Log

My second post for this post! What am I talking about? I did the wrong sketch for this week's sketch challenge and already did the post...so I had to do another layout AND another blog post! Hehe! My oopsy! So I guess I'll hold that other one for now! LOL!

So our sketch today at Stuck on U Sketches is an original one by co-leader Sandi C herself! You go girl!

I had to share this close up....aren't they the cutest!!! Its hard to get pictures of these 2 together but I sure won big time when I got this one!!!

My computer generated journaling was all about the start to our trip to Yosemite. We came into the valley with car trouble which lead to some serious adventure during that trip. So I took this photo when we arrived and got to hang out outside the Yosemite garage. Luckily we had a view of Yosemite Falls.

I used Tim Holtz tissue tape layered over vellum and die cut with Tattered Florals TH die. I layered over those some Prima's and Basic Grey brads.

All printed paper is DCWV.  The travel log and circle paper is...something Traveler? And the rest is a printed stack on kraft cardstock and that I believe is Playtime? Not sure though.

Oh gosh...almost forgot....and how dare I! We've got CANDY...play the month of September, as many times as you want for a chance to win this amazing amazing kit from The Flying Unicorn! Wow! Now that is some kinda a treat to give away!

Okay this is a quicky! Hope you don't mind! =)

It wasn't on purpose to have SO many posts all these days back to back but I had 2 posts yesterday and one coming up tomorrow...so hope you can poke around a bit! Hugs!

2011 ~Scrapbook Kits September sketch~

School

I guess this is one of the first times I have posted something without photos. How strange!

This fun one is for the September sketch at Scrapbook Kits

There is a TON of inspiration up on the site...a sketch challenge OR a photo inspiration challenge!

All of the elements, minus the flowers of course are all Snag Em stamps by Imaginisce. Colored for the first time of being used by me, with markers. I used some Glossy Accents on some of the stamping as well. All in all this was an easy layout...minus the stamping, coloring and then cutting out! LOL!

Now I need to work on getting some pictures in here! =)

Thanks so much for coming by....September kit layouts will be posted next....double post day? Wow!

September Kits from Scrapbook Kits

Cute as a Bug

The layouts today are my DT assignments for September. The kits are up at the store now! Jules, the owner has decided to keep the shop as kits only! Good for her!

Ahhh this first project is so special! My tiny little baby girl and her Daddy! Jordyn had very strawberry blonde hair until about after her first birthday. Such sweet memories! And really...she looks like a real life doll!

This kit is kinda cool because out of it there are 2 very different styled projects...something maybe for a younger gal and the other for someone older...great kit for those that maybe have 2 daughters that are different in age...

I just loved these chip letters by My Littleshoe Box! Popped the letters and gave some gem accents.

Love You

The other side of this kit...something a little more grown up and funky! I loved these papers. The Glitz large rub on frame..the black chipboard in the kit is really cool as well! I really let the embellishments shine on this page as the paper itself is pretty simple. Lace laser cut paper over black cardstock and some border stripes...but the chipboard really was the star here...and those large metal flower brads!

Ok thats enough posting for me today! LOL! See you tomorrow as well! Hugs!
