Snowflake Mask Cards ~SOUS Die Cut Challenge Snowflakes~

Snowflake Mask Cards

Oh, it's almost the New Year! Can you believe it? Another YEAR gone by? How is it even possible? Wow! Well today is post day for a SOUS Die Cut Challenge and it's kind of a neat one, chosen by Sandi...

Snowflakes..lots and lots of snowflakes! =) So just one isn't gonna do! LOL!

I had a few ideas for this one, I've got to say but once it was time to start something, I had an idea to take this in a bit of a different direction. A few of our DT gals, like Shona and Bonnie do some great masking techniques and I thought I would try one as well.

Choosing and welding the different snowflakes from my different Cricut carts was probably one of the hardest and most time consuming part about the cards. Hiding contours, moving things, viewing what would actually cut...it took forever! LOL!

Okay so the deets on the card...that gorgeous blue is Papertrey Ink. The brown from my scraps bin. I used the Cricut snowflakes as a mask. Sprayed once with a brown Tattered Angels chalkboard mist and then with the mask removed with a white mist.

The sentiment was embossed with a shimmery gold powder and outlined with a white chalkboard pen. I'm quickly becoming a fan of this pen as its lighter then a standard white gel pen and can add just the right amount of white detail without being too much. And then lastly, I added some brown flakes (yeah, punched) and some gold gems. The card is finished with wired rimmed ribbon.

I had no intentions on making this card but the mask was so pretty that I thought I should use that as well! The photos make the pink paper a bit pinker then it is in person since it was sprayed with the brown mist, its much more muted then this.

The base card, paper again by Papertrey Ink, embossed with a Sizzix snowflake folder. Sizzix embossing on Papertrey's thick paper is one of the most beautiful dry embossing I've ever seen! What a combo!

I guess you can't see any of the shine on the pink but its just lovely! Overlayed on blue paper and trimmed in a dark brown. Purrty! I hand made this little "ribbon" piece with letter stickers by Basic Grey. Added a small snowflake and a small heart clear gem.

2 cards for the price of one! Yay! LOL! I do hope you'll go by SOUS and see what the girls did...amazing work as always!

I Love Swimming ~The Cutting Cafe Blog Hop~

I Love Swimming
(well really, no I don't, LOL)

Hiya friends! I want to wish you guys a VERY Happy New Year! I hope you all the great blessings from God and the health and wholeness we all so deserve! I'm not sure about you all...but I'm still writing 2010 on things so I'm really behind. LOL! I just can't believe it's another year, I mean, I knew it was coming but why so quickly? =) I want to thank you all for your friendship...I simply can not imagine my life any differently. I also want to give a little shout out to my Cutting Cafe DT sister's and welcome the new team!

And with that...The Cutting Cafe is having a little blog hop with something special on EVERY blog!

This week at The Cutting Cafe ends the term for some designers but I'll be staying on and will be joined by some new talent. And as a wonderful treat today one winner from my blog will receive this set,  Rain, Rain Go Away and come on...you can't get less rain then this layout! =) Thank you Regina for offering this giveaway to one of my blog followers! =) Please leave a comment and I'll be back Saturday to announce the winner!

You'll find all the blog hop details over at the Cafe.

And onto the layout....this fun collection of paper is Echo Park, Splash? This past Summer's release.

There is great dimension to this layout so this photo was a good one to show that...

This is a funny one because I don't really swim...I won't even go underwater...but the kids enjoyed it! LOL

Goodness, at this point I'm not even sure I recall the line these die cuts come from, K&Company? I think.

And I added a TON of Stickles just about everywhere! Luckily the slightly warped paper doesn't bug me because it looks like the ripples of water. Nice!

Well friends, that's it for today...I'm not even sure who all will see this since there's still so much "holiday" going on! LOL! But I hope you get a chance to stop by The Cutting Cafe and check out the DT! I'll be back soon and let you know who the lucky winner is!

Tag Sets

Merry Christmas

Today is one of the most important, if not THE most important day of the year...the celebration of the birth of Jesus! Now normally I don't get too religious here but when it comes to who I truly am, it's a Christain woman and today is such a blessed day...not to mention just the funniest day ever! Cause who doesn't LOVE Christmas!

This is my post day at Scrapbook Kits and I've created this tag set. I have these glass honey containers and I am giving these to my sisters and my Mom. I created a tag for the jar as well as a matching tag for the gift bag. I have to say that these were really, really fun to create!

These are all Sizzix embossing products that I got recently on sale for 75% off! Woot Woot! I've hand cut this handsome reindeer and added some Stickles Glitz, I've also embossed the background. All pieces inked with Distress Inks in Vintage Photo and Brushed Corduroy (which is the same for all tags).

The matching gift tag with some added punched snowflakes.

You can see it better here but all tags have also been sprayed with Tattered Angels glimmer mist so they are lovely. This is de-bossed and watercolored accents and clear bling.

The embossed tag, with more watercolor and lots more brown colored bling.

I'm so in love with these! LOL! This embossed snowflake was just taken from the center of the embossing folder..you'll see in a second what I did with the remaining piece. I've added more Stickles Glitz and a lovely jeweled brad.

And another snowflake only half embossed so I had space for the To and From.

And what did I do with all those left over scraps..but made them into a card! I got the idea when my craft sheet was covered with still useable glimmer mist so I took that embossed card and rubbed away using up that left over mist...now a shimmer here as well! There is some good dimension to this card but I don't think that photographed. Still pretty though...

Thank you all SO much for coming by...and I hope you all had just a wonderful, magic filled day!

Lots of love, Leah

Emma and Grant ~SOUS December 23~

I want to start with a Happy ALMOST Christmas!
The big night is almost here and I hope that you all have a blessed holiday!
I hope that you made time this year to experience the magic that flows
in abundance this time of year and that you've enjoyed all that comes with it!
As much as I am happy for this day, I dread having to wait another year
for Christmas! Why can't it be a 2 or 3 month long holiday? (too much, you say?)

So Happiest of All Holiday's to you and your families!
I know that this time of year is still amazing but that their are
still some struggling so do know that many of you are in
my daily prayers!

Love ya!
(and now onto my post...hehe)

Emma and Grant

If you all can believe it...I've done my very first heritage page! What a gratifying experience! I can't wait to dig in and find more photos from my Mom! =)

Well today we have a stunning sketch made by my wonderful friend, Sandi! I had wanted to do something special and took it in a different route from what I had first thought...

The insanely cool paper is Bo Bunny Et Cetera line. Neato and perfect for this! Just added some more blue and brown inking, a bit of black and the paper became magic! These handsome folks are my Great Grandparents. Emma Gephardt and Grant Snair. I actually had worn her wedding ring for years after I (ahem) outgrew my cheapo wedding ring (replaced only this year with something real, LOL, but getting off topic...)

So this corner is to replicate the circle in the sketch, but instead with my groupings of embellies. The circle Dream is Glitz as is the rub ons. The tag is My Minds Eye and a few other goodies.

The border here is pretty special. This piece of lace is actually something FROM their home. Not sure if it is something that she made herself but it was theirs. How special is that! I've kept the piece in tack and its only folded in half and pulled up and then down from the bottom half of the page. I've used a EK Success plaid punch in blue, corrugated white cardboard, faux leather and lace are both from the Et Cetera line. (Another rub on in that corner as well).

The flower and metal pieces also from this Bo Bunny line. The heart pin came from Emma's home as well, I like to imagine its something she wore and treasured. =) The little frame piece is something I put together with letter stickers.

I've got to say that this is a page I wish you could see in person. I just don't think the photographing does it justice. But I guess they are all just better in person! So...who's coming over? LMBO!

Thanks for coming by today!

Teacher Christmas Gift

I made this small gift bag for my son's teacher for Christmas. There is local honey inside. I didn't realize until the week school gets out that the class was not doing a teacher gift, so... =)

I decorated the honey glass container in the inside but didn't love it enough to pull it out and rephotograph it. LOL!

I'm really very happy about how these turned out though...so simple but really very pretty. I started with the darker blue snowflake ornament first but realized I didn't like the blue so did this one as well. I used my Nesties to cut the circles. Used Papertrey Ink clear card stock for the center and a Sizzix snowflake die, cut in Bazzill paper.

And this was the first one I had done. A little more simple but still pretty! If I did it again I'd do a slightly larger one so I had more room of the clear part like this one, but I'd do the back one again with the other details. I think there's a TON of possibilities with this!

Thanks for coming by...the big day is coming...

My 2011 Christmas Cards

I wanted to share the sets of cards I made to give out this year. This is the first set I did. The candy cane, tag and pocket are all Papertrey Ink products. I made the tag by layering the border, a polka dot and the sentiment, ticket is a PTI die, as is the pocket.

The photo you may have seen before...LOL! I gave this card out to close family that I knew would want photo's of the kids.

As much as this one is "cute". There is just something I don't "love" about it. But after creating SO many and stamping, watercoloring everything...I felt I had put enough time into them. KWIM? But they are cute enough, I guess. This set were given to school staff, people that may not get all the attention like the teacher's do. I was happy to see the smiles when they opened them and got something handmade! =)

And the last set. Both pattern papers are DCWV. Embossed with the swirl CB folder, edges inked of course. These again are simple but pretty cute in person.

I made 3 sets of about a dozen cards each...so it really was a good amount of work. But fun to do! And projects I could work on while hanging out with the kids and stuff. I even brought these over to my Mom's while visiting and my niece helped me put them together!
Thanks for letting me share...I'll be back for the little teacher gift I made.

Baking Up Some Sweet Memories With You ~SOUS Die Cut Challenge~

Baking Up Some Sweet Memories With You

WARNING...photo HEAVY! So with that said, I'll try and keep the text to a minimum because I really wanted to share more photos! Today's post is for the newest Die Cut Challenge at Stuck on U Sketches
The newest challenge...

"What are you baking for the holidays?"!

How fun! And I just so happened to have this great set of photos from cookie baking last year! I can't believe how big my little Cody is already...ah! Here's the double layout together.

Mama Daddy, Mama Daddy, Mama Daddy...as Cody would say! LOL!

Ok I am so very excited about my ginger folks! =) My muy talented sister came over and drew the faces for me. She an incredible artist and my greatest wish is to get her and her daughter into crafting with me. But time is tight for the working family. =(

The jar comes from From My Kitchen, I cut the top off and put it a bit open...the Gingerbread Baby obviously a bit surprised from having been caught with his hand in the cookie jar! LOL!

Under the photo of me I have another photo of the cookies we made. Files and mitten are from From My Kitchen as well (all file cuts, these and the mini ones are from that cart). Chip letters from Target's $1 bin and small square letters by Echo Park.

The candy cane hearts, the candy canes (I didn't but you may want to remember to flip one of the candy canes to make this, LOL!). I believe these are from Christmas Cheer. And this poor Gingerbread Girl, well she's a lil' upset cause someone gave her a nibble...ouch!

One more Gingerbread Boy, his awful happy! With his pink painted cheeks (thanks to Worn Lipstick distress ink). Rolling pin from the same kitchen cart as the other cuts.

And the end of the title with the rest of the letters. Also shows the twine I used, a bundle that I got for $1 at Big Lots. All the paper is by DCWV. I believe I may have used sheets from 2 years worth of holiday paper stacks. I also did some inking with Frayed Burlap and Walnut Stain on all the cuts and the paper edges.

Ah, long post! But thanks for sticking with me! This was WAY fun to put together! =)

Frosty ~ABC Challenges F for Frosty~

Frosty

Today's chilling challenge at ABC is F for Frosty...Burrr! =) Now I think I may have gone a wee off on this as I wasn't really thinking frosty as in snow, so I apologize if this isn't right on with the challenge. But I do hope it will due! Cause I did enjoy making this!

The card base is a crisp white with some dark blue matting. I really find I enjoy using dark blue and could really use much more of that color in my stash! The great colorful snowflake print is Imaginisce, Cottage Christmas from last year? a left over scrap.

The hat and holly berries were from Winter Woodland. I just had the hide the selected contours for a design on the hat, but no biggie. And the holly is my favorite from the carts (at least the ones I have). I think Frosty came from the font from the same cart? Using the shadow only. The hat has a light stamped text pattern, and the sentiment a tiny polka dot (both stamps Papertrey Ink).  And of course, color coordinating Stickles! =)

An easy card but really cute one! I love things like this that are just simple but still SO fun! I can't wait to see what everyone does for this challenge! Happy 10 days til Christmas everyone! LOL!

This Will Be Our Year ~The Cutting Cafe~

This Will Be Our Year

Hi Friends! Today I did something a wee different for The Cutting Cafe
It's New Years is the file for the fun background. There are some black and white plus colored options in that file and then for the sentiment I used this file that has a great large circle and some sentiments. Too fun!
I also like that some of this doesn't have to be overtly themed, but still! =)

My kids recently found the joy of some kid bubbly, LOL, Martinelli's. They actually beg for it, LOL, so I made this and thought it would be something extra special for New Years!

I had fun digging through all my chipboard pieces and adding them here. I wondered if I'd ever use them! Ha! The paper is a new stack to me, thanks to shopping ON Thanksgiving night and bought a DCWV stack, something travel? LOVE IT!

And lastly, a dimensional shot..and the terrible time I had with those dang strings! LOL!

I'm so glad you came by and hope you enjoyed this! And when I see you towards the end of the month there will be a GREAT surprise here from The Cutting Cafe! Yay!  =)

Season's Greetings ~SOUS December 9~

Season's Greetings

Hey ladies! Hope you are all very well! I know this time of year is super busy and we're all posting up a storm with DT projects and holiday things, I hope to make some more time to get around to visit you all!
I wanted to share the sketch today for SOUS made by Sandi. Love it!

And my page using Bo Bunny Blizten. I really enjoyed putting this together and layering these different things. It also was a challenge because I put this together at the scrap retreat I went to so I only had what I had to work with. It was kinda cool to do that.

This die cut was cut from Beyond Birthdays and I tell you is probably 3 years old! I must of cut it and then put it away. I may do that more often because when you need something...its so quick to put together!
The lantern and flourish are both die cuts from the matching line.

The border here is really a mix of things. Trim by Webster. The flowers stamped with Liquid Pearls are part of the die cut from Blizten. Some random Prima's. The reindeer paper from the line as well and the cream is a ribbon border, though you can't really tell the texture here.

This shows another Cricut cut from Joys of the Season, and the paper distressing I did.

That pretty much sums this up! LOL! I hope you'll have a chance to use this great sketch and also check by SOUS to see what the other gals did...such an awesome team over there!
Thanks again to Sandi for the sketch! See you soon!

Christmas Has Arrived ~The Cutting Cafe~

Christmas Has Arrived

Hi friends! I'm excited about my project today for the DT post at The Cutting Cafe! We used the awesome file for pockets! Pockets are kinda all the rage, now aren't they? Use them as envies' as I did here or for a mini album, journaling pocket on a scrap page, a thin goody even?...the ideas are simply limitless!

I cut my pocket onto a navy card stock and then added some matting with kraft and this lovely blue print.

The sentiment comes from Christmas Daily 2, I cut and sized them to fit the project. The large snowflake is a Sizzix die. I bought some random stack of random pieces of paper a long, long time ago and there were a few treasures amongst the pieces and this shimmery dark blue is beyond gorgeous!

This is the inside square card, the also hold's my in-laws Christmas gift card. Since that's all they ever want for Christmas. LOL! Some people really just like to eat out! LOL! So anyways...all the edges have been inked in a white ink. These small snowflakes plus the stars are from a Cuttlebug die. I can't believe how tiny that smallest star is! I bought a new border punch on black friday and its a Fiskars punch, tick marks like a sewing machine (kinda). Well I tried it here but it wouldn't punch because of the paper thickness and so it ended up kinda random...but hey, the distressed look is all the rage and I went with it! Ha!

I managed to make this all while still chatting away online with my wonderful crafty friend, Nanne! =)

I'm so glad you came by...it's a busy time of year and it's hard to keep up with the many, many posts our friends are making, but I thank you for sneaking on by...

See you soon! This is a full week of posts! ~Leah
