Colored Embossed Dots ~Scrapbook Kits~

Colored Embossed Dots

Well today is a sad day for me...this is my last post as a Design Team member for Scrapbook Kits. I've been with them for awhile now and have so enjoyed my time! It's been a treat to get to know the original owner, Ness and now the new and way cool owner, Jules! Oh my gosh, what a treat she is! So thank you so much for having me and allowing me to design with the great Aussie kits!

So this is my last post over at the store blog and I've got a little tute to share (here of course and posting there as well). One of my favorite things always is dry embossing and of course, Swiss Dots. You can't go without it! Well I wanted to show some options for adding some color.

Each card you'll see today has been made with the Cricut Imagine (I finally created something again with it, LOL!)

So this first card, the background was embossed with white core paper and the embossed dots sanded. I've then randomly filled some dots but not all, with color. Its a great way to add more color but also pull colors from the rest of the project. Cake cut comes from the Yummy cartridge.

This card, images come from Imagine More Cards. I've started with a cream card base, embossed with a Sizzix branch folder. Each background shape layer has been embossed. The first layer, embossed and sanded was left as is (I couldn't go coloring it because the white dots looked too good on the brown!).

The second shape embossed as well. But with the coloring, I only added color back to the sanded dots in the cream center. I chose the same blue shade as the outside and really ended up liking the look! I also had a good time playing around with white and brown paint daubers (first time using them!)

My last little card, something different yet again with no distressing of the embossed dots but simply coloring. I really adore the soft shades on the kraft...I am SO doing that again! Colors and prints come from  Nursery Tails (shape from Once Upon a Princess and eggs from Doodlecharms, grass from Plantin Schoolbook.)

And a bit of a close up of the colored dots...prettiness!

Ok, certainly a long enough post! Right?
So thanks for visiting and hope to see this technique other on your blogs as well! And again, another thanks to Jules and the Scrapbook Kits DT! Will miss ya ladies!

Mr. & Mrs. ~SOUS Die Cut Challenge~

Another WARNING for my hubby...

Mr. & Mrs.

I'm so excited to share this with you, you not him...hehe! So, today is another wonderful Die Cut Challenge reveal day for Stuck on U Sketches and this is a great one, an easy one and one that I expect you to play along with! LOL!

......L O V E

What a delightful challenge! Here is something a little special for my hubby...and probably my favorite of the wedding pages I've created so far...

I cut this a couple times, once in the pink, then the shimmery white. And hand cut the & symbol. I've used Swiss Dots to emboss and filled the small heart with glitter. This cut along with most of the cuts come from Sweethearts cartridge. The photo frame comes from A Child's Year, which is a favorite cart of mine for choosing cuts that can be used as photo mats (I believe they are under the tag feature).

I'm feeling a little mixed on this photo...part of my sees that I look younger but then I don't see so much a change even if this was almost 10 years ago! We got married a The Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas and got some fabulously cheesy "prom" styled wedding photos. =)

LOVE this cut and will certainly use this again, if not only for the silhouette of the couple inside...cuteness!
The box actually was with the bells by the photo but I wanted to add an actual ribbon so cut this paper bow off and added it to the car.

I've taken a small sticker by Echo Park and heat embossed this lovely Love You sentiment by Inkadinkado.
The number stickers for the year are also EP and the cute word Love is from Create a Critter. I've cut this on shimmery white paper using my Imagine and LOVE the idea of purchasing white or cream shimmer paper and then being able to create ANY color using the Imagine! Nice! Also all the extra hearts on the page were also cut using the Imagine and the Create a Critter cart.

Gosh, that was a lot! Thanks for sticking with me...see you soon!

I Love This Life With U ~The Cutting Cafe~

I Love This Life With U

Oh my gosh...I am back at it! I have been creating a ton lately and LOVE being in these moods! Finding so much inspiration, at Pinterest, spending the day in San Fran with my girlfriends...all the sites and colors and patterns of life have totally got me ready to create!

Today I wanted to share with you a page I did for The Cutting Cafe using a fun set called Fun With Party Hats. I didn't have anything birthday to scrap but as soon as I saw the file I thought...banners! I chose the papers I wanted to use first and then chose my markers to match.

Here is a close up of the banner...very fun! My only thing is that the markers don't color too well, but I tried hiding some of that with a bit of stamping over the designs, and that seemed to work! I punched these butterflies and ran them through my small X Xryon and glittered them with Doodlebug glitter. Way pretty!

All patterned papers are from DCWV. And sticker embellishments are from Echo Park. I've used a bit of this and that from both companies so I apologize for not having exact product details.

I was happy to scrap these photos. My little girl worked so hard one day tracing and cutting out her little hand prints on construction paper, then she surprised me by doing her foot (LOL!) and making some kind of hat from it...hilarious! But I am pretty thrilled I have to say that she loves crafting...I look forward to the years as she gets older and can craft with me (well, she does now but she's little so...more work then fun).

Thanks so so much for stopping in and have a great day! Feeling so happy today and so glad we had the day off of school yesterday! Gotta love a short week!

Hugs, Leah

Ghoulish Grin ~SOUS sketch reveal~

Ghoulish Grin

This is my last original sketch for this month and another one for Stuck on U Sketches. For whatever reason I really liked this sketch. I think its got some great possibilities and I'm so thrilled with the pages that my gorgeous friends made with this sketch, so you got to go over to SOUS and check them out!

And I've got to tell you guys that this page was really a blast to make! Sometimes a page just drags and you can't wait to finish and some are just fun at each detail and that's the way it was with this one!

I have these hilarious photos of Scotti, maybe around the age of 5, wearing his grill! LOL! Or Halloween teeth for you that aren't as gangster as he. Now I really do have myself laughing! Ha!

I started with Basic Grey paper, these are basic distressed solids. When I brought this border punch home I thought immediatly of how great it could be for Halloween...or more directly that those circles would be great to put eyeballs in. I also had been wanting to do a monster page and after going through the Mini Monsters cartridge I decided I would do stamping instead. Stamps are by Recollections.

Speaking of stamping. I knew I wanted to get the most out of my stamps, I also wanted to conserve this blackish paper and knew that cutting a window in the paper..I could do both. Using Antique Linen distress ink I stamped one of the monsters as a background print. The monster shown here, I had a hard time cutting the hands so instead used the hand to come out of his mouth. Cute, creepy! All the monsters were stamped on BG paper as well. The distressed paper had some different hues so I stamped in those areas to get a little different look to each monster.

I did some layering with a few labels, paper pieces and here some fiber that reminded me of some nasty, furring monster. Eew!

The hand doodling around the edges was a last minute detail that really added a perfect touch. And the lil' spiders I added in with white gel pen eyes. Brads and googley eyes, stickers are all from my stash. This page was a major "go through your crap" kinda a page! LOL! I also did some dry embossing and layering for more color behind the photos....ain't that right Boo?...True!

Not sure what my favorite details might be but sure love this one...I stamped just the top of this guy (same monster used to stamp a background) and cut a slit into the doodling and stuck him in. That looked better then having him off the page..looks funkier this way.  =)

Last details is some more fiber, the black fixed with staples. The fiber reminded me of monster tails. Letters are Basic Grey. Eyeball stamp from the same set.

And I think that about covers it..there's more but do you really need me to point it all out? LOL! I say that as I think about watching Youtube video's and 5 minutes just talking about a front cover of a mini...LOL! Enough is enough! Ha!

Ok thanks for coming by my great ghoul-friends!

Sometimes You Just Feel Naughty ~ABC Challenges~

Sometimes You Just Feel Naughty

It's that wonderful point of the mid-month when ABC Challenges has their new challenge for the month and we are at J for Jazz It Up...using bling, glitter, etc on your projects. Now that should be an easy one..right? =)

We have a wonderful sponsor this week, Bugaboo stamps and they've got a great prize for us...along with a wonderful prize from The Pretty Little Ribbon Shop. You can find all the details at ABC...

So I was lucky enough to get to use a Bugaboo image for my project and I about died when I saw this female cop...I thought my hubby would get a kick out of this! Maybe he'd appreciate femail cops a bit more if they all looked like this? LOL!

I've used some different pieces from different DCWV stacks, using though papers with a gloss finish (the hearts and the red background) the inside of the card has matching chipboard hearts covered in the red/blue glossy paper.

For a little more jazz, I cut the card base of metallic paper. I was able to think of different ideas other then just glitter for this challenge so used some metallics, bling, glitter and the glossy papers...

And here's another shot to show the Stickles I've added to various parts of this va-va-voom lady...

I kept extra embellishment to a minimum which was unbelievably difficult to do but with so much layering and the extra large image and glitter...I thought it held its I think I know where I can get myself a pair of those handcuffs...hummmm? LOL!

Take it easy...see ya friday! Happy Hump Day!

Special Day ~The Cutting Cafe~

Special Day

Hiya friends! I'm excited to share a birthday card that I made for my best friend. Lindsey lives in Arizona so we don't see each other not even once a year but she'll be coming into town this weekend and our other mutual bestie and I will be spending the day with her in S.F. very, very excited! It's been forever since the 3 of us have been together but also, a long time since I've spent a day hanging out in the city.

So I've made this card for The Cutting Cafe using the Mini Colored Calendar Cards. The example I've used is the red card for the month of February. I also used the "special day" piece from Jot It Down

If I've ever created a card from the most random collection of stuff from my stash..this is it! Black card stock is PTI, red is by Basic Grey and I believe the prints are DCWV. The celebrate/balloon image is also by PTI, colored with watercolor pencils. I've added the date of my friends birthday with a number stamp set (that I didn't keep the info of so I have no idea who  made it). The chipboard cupcake was some cheap set I got from who knows where, the button, ribbon and blooms from my stash.

Now that I'm looking at the card, I don't think it photographed as well as it shows in person. Its missing the shimmer from the glitter and doesn't show the dimension so well (like will this even fit in an envie?) But that's okay...glad to share this today! You can check out the rest of the team's projects for this week a little later down the road, posted this up a bit early this week.

See ya wednesday!

Let's Hang Out ~SOUS Die Cut Challenge~

Let's Hang Out

Happy Friday! What a week, huh? I'm excited the week is over but my oh my...these days do more then fly by! As I told you earlier this week, I had a visit from my friend Brandi, she and her kids stayed for a couple days and we had a chance to scrapbook together. I had actually designed this layout sometime last year, before Christmas even. But only cut it out now. But this was just perfect for this challenge today at SOUS! Our die cut challenge today is...You've Got Mail!

This sweet little mailbox comes from Create a Critter (as well as the grass and postage stamp shape) and the letters from Doodlecharms. I've used a Echo Park line from a year or more ago, Springtime? I've done some inking and stamping on a few of the cuts. Also added some floral stickers that come with this paper line. I used a small scallop circle punch to shape my own leaves for the flowers.

The title also from Create a Critter, is inked and glittered and I did a bit of stamping on "out" to have that stand out a bit more on its own. The envie cut was too large for what I have in mind before but I layered it under the title and really like that extra detail, plus the punched and glittered blue heart.

This is showing both the pages that my friend and I did. It's amazing that they are almost all the same cuts but how different they turned out! Cool, huh? Scrapping with Brandi has been really great and helping her learn how to use the machine with make her more confident at opening up her own Cricut at home and playing as well.

Brandi chose papers from SEI. We were talking and I had mentioned that I knew this paper company but have never seen it sold anywhere...strange! But I love the prints and colors! I've been showing her how inking really makes Cricut cuts pop off a page and she was going great with that, and realizing how time consuming just that part is! =)

And lastly, just a little close up of this mailbox. I do believe her title came from 3 Birds on a Parade. Brandi bought a preloaded Gypsy off of Ebay over the holidays and amazingly enough it had a little less then half of cartridges that I don't have, so that's perfect for sharing! =)

Glad you came by today and hope you had a terrific week...I'm certainly looking forward to this weekend and having no plans! LOL!

Valentines Day ~The Cutting Cafe~

Hope all you fine friends are having a great week!
Mine started out wonderfully with having a friend and her kiddo's over for a couple days. Only thing that could of been better was her 2 year old NOT screaming at midnight! LOL! But hey, that's okay! What a joy to be a "grown" up and still have a sleep over with your best friend! Yay!

Okay, okay...onto my card! I've got a card designed to give a girlfriend for Valentines Day using a wonderful file from The Cutting Cafe. I used the M&M candy file...there are a ton of candy options for all those wonderful sweets. But I also wanted to show that you can use these without having them just about the candy. So I've used a tag and also this awesome polka dot!

I thought dot on dot would be cool so I've used a larger size embossed dot over the digi paper. Also embossed the background which is the red card base. Added in some flowers, a few ribbons and a button and called it cute! LOL!

Have a great day...only a coupe more until the weekend! Right? LOL! Take care ladies....

Family Gathering

Family Gathering

Hi guys! I'm hosting this month at SOUS and I've created a double layout sketch to use. Something you can super fill with photos, or not. =) You'll find that sketch over at the challenge blog. I know sometimes you have taken a ton of photos at an event and really want to use them all, that was kinda the inspiration for this sketch.

These family pictures are from 2010 in Half Moon Bay, Ca. At our semi-annual (which means we go sometimes, hence semi..meaning sometimes, LOL) beach birthday trip. My son Scotti's birthday is in August and we love having this weekend getaway to end our Summer the right way!

Its hard to see but all the photo edges were inked with black distress ink. I didn't want to waste paper to mat so many photos but the inking helped them stand out better agains't the background.

The base printed paper and the kraft circle in the bottom left corner are Basic Grey Basics.

Black paper is from my stash and all the other papers, top punched pieces, floral prints and most of sticker embellishments are Echo Park For the Record.

Journaling prompt is from the Smash collection by K&Company, red label and button by BG.

Tab is BG and for the life of me I can not recall the collection. Argh. Buttons, brads are either BG or K&Company or randomness from my stash.

Circle spot and label are stamped.

I was inspired by Nichol Magouirk, love watching her video's on Youtube. So I tried, not easily to do printed journaling text but had to split it to read across the double layout. LOL! I did a good amount of layering here as you can see with the black strips, and the top of the page.

Wow, a bit photo heavy. My apologies but I wanted to share all the details! =) Thanks for coming by!

It's Twins ~ABC Challenges~

It's Twins

Hi friends! Welcome by! I've got a little card to show you today for this the new challenge this month at ABC Challenges,...
I for 'In Pairs' (like 2 of something, like my hearts or the babyies this card is for!).

With this challenge I knew there were soooo many ideas for this but my friend came to mind who is expecting twins in a coupe months and you don't get much more "in pair" then twins! LOL! So I thought making her a card would be perfect and then I decided to go with a set of chipboard covered hearts. I also liked using something girly (like the hearts) but giving it a little boy spin with the cool printed papers.

I used a great paper collection by DCWV, Little Boys (I believe, but it did come from Michaels). The sticker, yep, a sticker is by Jolee. I don't do stickers much but had been given a stack of baby/kid stickers and thought this one was really cute and went so very well with the colors! The hearts have a bit of gloss on the pattern which makes them a bit more fun (that yellow is really a nice camo-print green but these were photographed off my iPhone).

I always look forward to my DT project for ABC, I find the challenge really fun there and hope you do as well and will play along...would love to see your take on "in pairs".

Thanks for coming by...the kitchen is complete now so I'll be sharing photos soon...

xoxo Leah
