Shark Birthday Party

Shark Birthday Party

Hope you don't all mind but I'll try to keep this post on the short side. Truth, it's dinner time and I am super hungry! Day 2 of working out at our new gym (where easily half of the parents from school go to, now I know why they all look so dang good!) and I am feeling it. Not sure about you all, but I gained everything I had lost before Summer plus a few...ugh, so I'm starting all over again, again.

 But onto the party!

My oldest just turned 8 and here's a bit of what I did for his party! Starting with the fact that anything like this was sold out by the end of Summer so about all I found was the funky fish net to use on the wall, and yeah, only one of them.

Cute, huh? Too bad about 10 minutes after everyone arrived allllllll the frosting went and slipped off most the cupcakes! Oh well, I was way too tired at that point to care!

And my blue jello was a hit! Apparently folks don't love jello like we do and had never seen the layered jello before, jello and heavy whipping cream. Yum!

And the quick shark fin banner that I hat to cut by hand, though it was pretty easy. Just hand drew a template and traced and then cut a few at a time. Letters and sea buddies were cut with my Cricut, letters from Cuttin Up and creatures from Life's a Beach. I embossed with both my ancient circle Cuttlebug folders.

Just had to show this, since Scotti LOVES Jaws, this guy was simply not scary enough...so he needed some bloody teeth! LOL! And just see how dang happy he is about it!

Just threw a few things together and for table...

I can do a lot but I can't do it all...so this is one of the few photos I was able to get...Daddy got him a rubber band gun.

And our party invites. I thought this was simple, and I guess it was...but multiple it and it doesn't go together so quickly. Oh well, they were cute and worth it! I will say that half of who got these couldn't come/said they could come and didn't show/or didn't call. Gotta adore throwing a party...

Ok! Thanks for looking! Party on!

Speed Demon ~SOUS Hot August Nights Die Cut Challenge~

Speed Demon

Wow, I never thought I'd get to the point when I am almost only posting on my Fridays! But life has been so busy lately that crafting, let alone blogging, has taken a bit of a back seat. But of course the kiddo's come first! And speaking of which they just started school on Wednesday. They both did great but are just exhausted and emotions are running a little whack. So with that said, let me share those not so perfect but those very real photos with you...Scotti was beyond fussy (apparently his morning routine for the first week of school, boy lost computer privileges because of it), that explains this oh so happy face!

I always knew my daughter was such a poser! Hahahaha! I got normal photos as well but I guess she has to pull out the model in her...LOL! Honestly, these photos make me laugh out loud!

And his photo shoot? Well he walked backwards for almost all the photos I got. I did snap a bunch of him telling his Grandma something so it show's how his little lips look when he talks. Very cute, very funny...very him! So for moving around so much, not a bad pic!

So onto my layout for this week's Die Cut Challenge at Stuck on U Sketches. Hot August Nights! This  challenge isn't only cars, but any vehicle...think what you can ride on and you'll be right on...hahaha!

Anyways, this page was another really fun one to create! I have lots of photos so I'll try and be brief with the rest of the text...

A funky altered photo of Justin on a ride with his buddy up to the Canadian border...

This is the main part of the embellishments and die cuts. The motorcycle, Go sign and large shape that was cut as a mask for the background are from Going Places. Flames and dice are from Indie Art, cherries from Country Life and title with a welded skull from Indie Art was from Boys Will Be Boys.

There was a mix of mists from Tattered Angels and Perfect Pearls so this photo shows some of the shine. Also the sticker letter masking I did for Seattle, didn't turn out very well because spraying it made the stickers stick and peel badly, oops.

And one more skull from Indie Art and the Glossy Accents on the dice. You can also see a touch of the shimmer paper for the title which was also splattered with black paint as was the background.

 Ok, ok...long post! Sorry...

Thanks for coming by and thanks friends for getting me almost to 300 followers! Woot Woot!

Paradise Is Life With You ~SOUS Sketch Challenge~

Paradise Is Life With You

Hey all! I've got another sketch to share with you today and it's certainly different from the tough collage sketch last time at Stuck on U Sketches. This time, either keep it clean and simple or...take it where all the Design Team did, I don't think those girls could do CAS if they tried! LOL! Anyways, here's the sketch...

And my page...another for my wedding album I'm putting together. This is Justin and I enjoying a luau (hope I spelled that correctly, don't think I did). Anyways, a Hawaiian bbq...LOL! I did so much on this page and just had an incredibly good time making this...let me share the deets with you...

I had to start by scanning the photo and making it into a 5x7. Older photo, older camera and so the enlarged image was pretty fuzzy (yes, the technical word). So I played around with editing and then also thought that the colors would be cool if I used the antique effect. So everything started around the photo. I picked papers to go with at this point. My title was cute from Life's a Beach.

And I added this very fun birdie with a blue goggly eye. I did not weld these pieces together but just sat him up on top. I did cut a black title layer and then popped the green title, which I used both brown and white acrylic paint to distress. Do any of you recognize this paper? An old Summer stack by DCWV, in white. So the whole piece got a good dose of distress ink (as did the subtle sand print from the same stack.)

My journaling and another photo of the flowers. I used Prima's, bling and mixes of leaves from Life's a Beach. Some where inked and almost all were stamped with background stamps.

Here you can see that I used the title to mask. I used mist on this page by the bushel, LOL! And my tasty drinks (which is a funny thing because my husband is Straight Edge, which for those that don't know that means that he doesn't drink, do drugs, etc. Never has...) Me, I'm a lush...ok, maybe not either but the drinks from Pack Your Bags were fun to make! Another misted thing on the page because originally these were very, very bright colors!

Ok, gosh...only a handful or so more months before I need to finish this album and reveal it to my husband on our 10th anniversary...I'm so excited! I just finished a double layout for the album but that's for a future sketch..so you gotta wait, totally different from this page!

Have a great weekend friends! Don't forget to stop in at SOUS...

Get Your Party On ~SOUS Card Sketch August 15~

Get Your Party On

I am way beyond excited to share this sketch with you all and even more so, for you all to head over to Stuck on U Sketches and see the incredible card by our very talented Design Team and our August Guest Designer Clare! You will love to pieces each project, I guarantee it!

 Here's my sketch...

And my card...featuring kraft card stock and stamps by Papertrey Ink. I really feel like these easel cards are my favorite card type. It's just fun because they display so well and are just something different from the standard card to receive.

Can I tell you how many times I had to stamp these cuties? Either not stamping well or getting them into the right placement. That was fun, not! The stamps, Tiny Treats: Birthday.

A close up of the stamps...darling, don't you think? And colored with Prisma colored pencils and a white gel pen, with white inked edges. Here you can also see that in a matching kraft ink by PTI I stamped their chevron stamp on the background (I believe the background kraft is from my stash, all the circles are PTI paper).

Following the sketch I added these pink borders, which looks back, I should have stamped with some pattern as well. The circles were all cut using my Nesties, the black embossed images is from a birthday tag set by PTI. Puffy stickers are dollar finds at WM (love using those!)

Thanks for sticking with my double post day! Appreciate it!

New version of a prior layout...

Awhile back I had made this layout for ABC Challenges. This is one of my most favorite pages I have done to date! Well I've told you guys before a bit about my friend Brandi who comes to stay with me and my kids with her two little ones. She loved this is much that she wanted to make a page as well so I wanted to show you what the same page looks with just different colors and papers!

Funny this is that this is what I was first envisioning! Seriously! I wanted all kinda pastels but didn't have the right colors or prints. So it was fun to see what the page would have looked like... I am not even sure the paper pack she used. Mostly this was printed paper from a stack she got years and years ago.

Ok, hope you like the re-do! Kinda fun huh....

Apple Crayon Teacher Cards ~SOUS Die Cut Challenge School is Cool~

Apple Crayon Teacher Card

I am excited to share my project with you guys today! And excited for the Die Cut Challenge at Stuck on U Sketches....which is...School Is Cool!
Let's see all those school related die cuts...apples, school buses, school supplies, etc! There are many, many ideas for this and our fabulous Design Team has some great examples of projects..so head on over if you haven't already!

So these little sweeties actually took me forever and to be honest, was crazy close to not even making this! Finding the right apple shape within my Cricut cartridges with a shadow that was thick enough to cut like this was super tough. The apple I ended up with...the one from Create a Critter.

It took some time looking in my stash for a printed paper that wouldn't just look nuts with the multi colors of the crayons. But I finally came across this simple alpha print on creme paper. With a little text stamping in Antique Linen distress ink, its all I needed and was perfect...

Here you can see the crayon's and the dimension...makes for a cool, rather heavy card! LOL!

And a finished inside...I'm looking for an A+ on these!
I've used a bunch of stamps from my stash, punches, some cork for the stems, twine, mini paperclips and themed stickers.

I'm so excited to find out who my kids have for their teachers this year and I hope these cards will show them how much it means that they'll be caring and teaching my babies for the year! Teachers are a big, big deal!

Well gosh, that's it for me today...hope you are all well! I know we get used to all the craft projects and the blogging but I also know that some folks are not experiencing the best in life and for those of you that are struggling...know that my prayers have been with you.

My Crazy Life

My Crazy Life

So if anyone was looking for me, sorry I'm a bit late! I have company in town and didn't even realize...oopsy!

With that said, I"ll make this a quickie post because well...I'm having a cocktail and watching a movie with my best friend, so...I think that's a pretty good reason for not staying online! LOL!

Ok, well I have a tricky sketch designed for you all! Haha! I know this may be wayyyyy out of our comfort zone but before you think of skipping this, please check out what the design team did at Stuck on U Sketches. The girls wayyyyy rocked out this challenge sketch...so that makes me confident that you can too!

Collage layouts are a pretty hot trend and so I thought I'd take this sketch in the direction of a "me" layout. Right, cause since we are doing a tough layout sketch anyways, I may just make myself go crazy and do a layout also about myself...yikes! Double yikes!

My journaling on a vellum circle...the vellum didn't distract from the area with all the journaling and the lines from the pattern paper helped me keep the journaling straight. The stamped title was heat embossed in black.

More stamping...and yours truly =)

I found images online, and made some images in black and white since there was enough going on...

And thought I'd share this little spot as well...cute, huh?

Ok quick, right..for me? LOL! Yes, very! Hope you all have a fantastic weekend...hugs friends!

Get Better ~ABC Challenges~

Get Better

Okay my second post for today...if you are looking for the new Card Sketch Challenge for Stuck on U Sketches, look here, but only AFTER you look at this post! LOL!

Now I have for you a little something for ABC Challenges and our newest letter....U for Under the Weather. We can't wait to see all the Get Well cards! Maybe not the happiest card to send out but certainly a thoughtful one! Either way, a card we all must have in our stash. This one is just the right pick me up...for a woman, not sure a guy, who's not feeling well is going to appreciate this! LMBO!

I started with die cutting a good number of these bandaids from the Everyday Paper Doll cartridge. I then cut a window out of the card front using my Nesties and then made the frame. The bandaids were put on its own layer and then glued under the card base. Looking back I would have popped the whole frame but hey...live and learn.

I covered a chipboard heart w/ embossed paper and made it feel all better by giving it a bandaid too!

The sentiment, some handwriting and letter stickers. I used Baby Pink and Frosted Lace Stickles for all the accents. The puffy heart stickers are the $1 stickers from WM.

And what, what do I see? A finished inside of a card? What! Wow...I really must want this person to feel better right away...or die of shock that I did the inside of the card? Oh no...not a good idea!

Well friends, thanks for sticking with me on this second post for the day!
