Here Comes The Bride ~SOUS Sketch Challenge~

I wanted to take a moment and thank all my followers, past and the recent gals for getting me to the 300 mark! I don't know why but this feels like such an accomplishment and really is very exciting that so many enjoy my creations! There are lots of blogs out there and some offer candy all the time to get you to follow...I don't =) which means even more to me to have you folks here! Blessings to all! I appreciate you so much! Love, Leah

Here Comes The Bride...

Hello friends! Happy (it's just about) Friday! Our family is off to an impromptu family reunion. We wanted to visit with my husband's family in Reno, Nevada and it turned out that the kids Great Grandparents would be there, and cousins and an Aunt and Uncle (not to mention that my in-laws are now living with a newly separated daughter and her 2 kids). It will be my MIL undoing having all these people at her house, LOL, but it will be great to see everyone!

And well today is another wonderful sketch challenge at SOUS, another beauty from my dear friend Sandi C. With doing a wee bit of sketching myself, I turned this single page sketch into a double layout...I needed more room! =) all for the super secret wedding album...

The stunning title is from the Sweethearts Cricut cartridge. I've really used that cartridge a ton! So don't just think wedding, it offers a lot more for more love themed projects, plus more... It didn't photograph but the title was heavily covered in Diamond Stickles.

Oh my...I had such a wonderful time putting this floral cluster together! Using some really old, glitter covered chipboard in green, Prima flowers, Petaloo, Iamroses leaves and some half folded flowers and a small piece cut from the Webster pages floral trim! I've even managed to add a couple stickers too!

This photo shows well all the layering on the page! This is certainly heavy for a layout.

And then here are some details from the second page. Similar but not totally the same...

Don't let me forget to mention maybe one of my all time favorite paper stacks by DCWV, Spring Fling. The florals in this are easily my favorite of any collection I have seen. I will make sure I buy another if I can find it!

Well I hope you all have a wonderful and happy weekend! And I'll see you all soon!

Carving Out Some Fun ~SOUS We Rake, We Pile, We Jump!

Carving Out Some Fun

I am excited about our newest Die Cut Challenge over at Stuck on U Sketches! What's the challenge?

We rake, we pile, we jump!

With all the amazing leaf die cuts out there, this challenge is going to be a cinch! So don't just think of those incredible photos of the kids in a massive pile of leaves...though that would be perfect...just think leaves! And lots of them!

And here is the double layout I created for our challenge!

Isn't this the sweetest? I am pretty in love with this large pumpkin and flourish cut but also...this mouse! Normally this is something you wouldn't use much but this is the second time that I've included him in a project! The little guy is from Country Life and is supposed to hold a piece of cheese but instead I added a small pumpkin sticker. I also rubbed a generous amount of orange Stickles on the pumpkin as well! (Note to self, last year was 2011...oops!)

The stunning title was a mix of fonts, the flourish font welded together with my Gypsy was from Gypsy Font and the other from...gee, surprise...I don't remember and after 30 minutes trying to figure it out, I give up! LOL! Anyhow, isn't the Stickles just lovely...since I cut with textured card stock I thought it needed something and I didn't feel like stamping so...
I used Stickles in orange, a gold for the yellowy orange and 3 greens for the leaves, and then black for the vines. Love having alllllll the colors! LOL!

The beautiful tone on tone pattern paper is by last years DCWV Halloween stack Ghouls and Ghosts. Which I think is one of the best Halloween paper collections I have seen, wish I had gotten another! Trimmed from that stack also is the small border (the black is foil with the chevron design in the center).

You know I made this page and then spent probably as much time in designing as I did trying to figure out what to add. Since I am used to more detail. Well after all the time, I decided that the massive die cuts and extra large title really held their own on the project and that was enough..what a hard decision to let it go...

Wow...way enough of me! Thanks for coming by today! If you even got this far...

Wishing You... ~SOUS Card Sketch September 19~

Wishing You...

Hello friends! Happy Hump Day! These weeks seem to be flying by! Don't you think? Yesterday my daughter cried because it wasn't Halloween yet and then fussed that I was getting/talking about the holiday with it so far away yet. LOL! Poor girl! It's not like the house is decorated but we did get my little Cody a pirate costume, sooo excited! I am all about the holidays already! =)

Well gosh, let's get onto the post! Today is a sketch reveal for Stuck on U Sketches  and our sketch is one by your's truly! =)  And today is also our second and sadly, our last, day with our talented Guest Designer Frank Garcia! Thank you so much for having joined us!

I guess I enjoyed making this so much because this is something different from my normal bright and cheery project. I've always been drawn to bold color and having little kids kinda makes me craft in a certain style. So making something a bit more elegant was really a good time!

I've used the lovely Basic Grey Curio line. This is just the best card sketch for seriously using up those small but beloved paper scraps! By distressing the edges of the 4 panels, it showed a white edge and therefore helped each piece stand out against the darker brown paper mat. Since this line also has some black edges I hand cut the black border to fit with the shape cut from a Cuttlebug Cut and Emboss set (that I can not find, anywhere online to get the name of...bah!) Nesties were used to cut the circles layered over top. The top kraft piece was stamped with the circle pattern and the sentiment from Papertrey Ink Birthday Tags 2012.
For details, I've added eyelets for the double bow with embroidery floss. A large MS butterfly, punched in the pink and layered with vellum.

I knew I needed to think outside the box for the bottom here as I didn't want to add more paper since I felt it would take away from the sentiment piece I that's when the vellum came into play! Using a great border punch! After I did this, this gave me the idea for the vellum layer on the butterfly as well. I've added a few flowers from my stash as well as fussy cutting some flowers and leaves from the Curio pattern paper. The last bitty detail is the gold Liquid Pearls (which was also added to the large white flowers and then rubbed in with the tip of the bottle).

Well friends! That should do me...I'll be back in a day or so with another SOUS project! Can't wait to share that with you!

Enjoy the rest of your week!

Stork ~ABC Challenges X-ing Criss Cross Card~

So I finally got my Cricut Imagine going again and was very excited to use a new cartridge, Card Greetings Inside & Out. If you Imagine folks haven't seen this cart yet, man, check it's really something different and there's lots of ideas for cards and scrapbook pages!

I made this card for the lead of children's ministry at church. I see him every week but actually don't really know his wife. So I hope she doesn't find this weird. LOL. But I really, really was feeling this image and they are the only ones I know how are expecting anytime soon! =)

And...this cool little card is for the current challenge at ABC Challenges. in Criss Cross cards. Now in my time I've made a few cards but never this style. Which now that I have made it, I adore it! What a fun take on a regular old card to give!

The Stickles I added are crazy gorgeous in real life! Love! The papers are the matching prints to this image that come with the cartridge. I just chose cut and print in a square and filled with the pattern I wanted. I used a Fiskars edge punch in black and added a sheer ribbon to the card. Also added a small tag from Tiny Tags by Papertrey Ink (something you'll see me use a billion times).

And lastly, a photo showing how the card opens and to reveal a small detail added inside. The special delivery stamp was part of this cartridge. Believe it or not this went together pretty quickly. I forgot how much I enjoy using my Imagine when its working right! LOL! And I am NOT trying to use the Cricut Craft Room. Which, for the record will only print now for me and not cut anymore. Blah! But as my super smart girlfriend Nanne told me, use the CCR to show you the sizes and just manually add into the Imagine. Then no cutting issues!

Okay! Lots and lots of posts from me this week! Sick of me yet? LOL!
If you've missed make sure to stay a moment and see my other projects! Have a great weekend everyone!

Little Boy ~SOUS Original Sketch September 14~

Little Boy

Hello hello everyone! I am so excited about the sketch and projects for Stuck on U Sketches! My girlfriend and co-leader Sandi has designed a really neat sketch and the ladies on the Design Team have been very, very creative with it (but hey, what's new?)

I thought this was just a blast to put together and had a good time playing the rearrange and rearrange and...rearrange game! LOL! I also think this is a great sketch to really concentrate on adding details to.

This extra sweetie pie photo is of Scotti. I'm not totally sure his age here maybe 2 or 3. It's so hard to tell, with the only clue is the silly toy bucket on his head! I miss that baby face...

The awesome tone on tone stripe is Echo Park Dots and Stripes. Pretty much a must collection of papers (in all the colors!) The paper is a mat stack by DCWV All About Boys. There's a few other pieces maybe from my stash but primarily from the mat stack. All the stickers are by Echo Park.

The buttons are from my stash and all the brads are by Bo Bunny. You can also see the white lines I've added around as a border and the white paint splatters. I did actually go back in and add a sticker title here as I felt like it needed just one more thing but I didn't end up taking a photo.

And as another bonus, here's another page that my friend Brandi did. Copying the same design but doing her own thing with some of the embellishments. Cute! Love the added circle photo as well!

So looking forward to seeing what you all make with this sketch! I'll be visiting you soon!

You & Me ~ABC Challenges W for Wishes~

You & Me

This is for the current challenge at ABC Challenges which is W for Wishes! For all the occasions that you want to wish someone well! Cute!

So I knew right away with this darling image from The Paper Shelter that I wanted to do an early anniversary card for my hubby! One more sponsor for us, as if one's not enough, the wonderful Lili of the Valley! I had the best time making this card, well...after the ideas started rolling that is! LOL!

The image is watercolored with Distress Inks. In neutral and soft tones. The wonderful frame is a shape from Once Upon a Princess Cricut cartridge. I've inked the edges and also used Distressed Stickles in Vintage Photo. My embellies are a mix of die cuts (the flourish), thick twine, I Am Roses flowers, Martha Stuart punches and a large focal flower by Webster Pages.

I am more and more doing little touches for the inside of, and probably only because (haha) I added the sentiment inside because I couldn't find a place on the front that I really liked! But still...I did do the inside, that counts!

Awesome! Thanks for visiting and for not telling me how awful I am that I keep forgetting blog posts...sigh...

Play Hard ~SOUS Die Cut Challenge Put Me In, Coach!~

Play Hard

I am late...late late late and I have

This is for the past Friday's Die Cut Challenge at Stuck on U Sketches. We have another fun challenge is it's...Put Me in Coach!
We'd love to see your sports themed die cuts put to work this week!

The main diecut on my page is the large white baseball which is from Boys Will Be Boys. Normally I do a ton of diecuts but this is the only one for the page! We have the kids playing sports on teams but luckily I had snapped a few photos of my oldest son, Scotti in the backyard on the way to school one day. They were having a sports themed day and so I had just the right photos!

All my papers are by Echo Park. The tone on tone gray from their Dots and Stripes collection and the rest (except the yellow print from my stash) are from Echo Park This & That Charming.

I thought I'd never have the chance to use a few of the baseball papers and stickers from the collection but they were simply perfection for the line! I also used a border punch and some red and white twine for some added interest. Very fun page to put together!

And as a bonus! My friend Brandi was scrapping with me again and pulled some papers from her stash and made a similar page! Who doesn't love modern technology? She didn't have any photos and we quickly grabbed a baseball hat and my camera, took a few picks and printed them! Nice!

Have an awesome week everyone! I'm an overdue for some blog hopping so see you folks this week!

SOUS September 5 Card Sketch and MY Birthday!

Happy Birthday to me!
Wow, what a sucker way to getting some "happy birthday's"! Huh, so pathetic! LOL!

Today is our reveal day for our current Card Sketch at Stuck on U Sketches and as a bonus we have a special Guest Designer for the month, Frank Garcia! Good times, huh? We are excited to have him with us for the month and excited to see what you all create as well!

This card is something a bit more simple, for me. I needed a birthday card for a special little boy in my life and also was a bit short on time...I did however try to add some special details.

Using the All About Boys DCWV mat stack, this sure is a happy little card and with an easy matching envie!

I used a Cuttlebug cut and emboss shape and used a few different prints. I tried hard taking a few photos trying to get a good shot of the gloss to the papers, but nothing worked! ugh! And to go along with that I added some glossy accents to some of the stars on the orange patterned paper. Love that look. I added a fun brad, ribbon and twine and called this fun little project complete!

For as quick as this should have should of seen the mess I made with trying all different things for that center area. Ending up just cutting the sentiment from patterned paper. Wish I would have done that to begin with! LOL!

Anyhow, thanks so so much as always for coming by! And please stop in and see what my wonderful friends created today as well at SOUS!

Hugs to all, Leah

Oh My Gawrsh! ~SOUS Original Sketch~

Oh My Gawrsh!

Eek! Another wee late post, dang! Ok, I am! And better late then never since I am getting to share maybe one of my tippy top favorite layouts! Yay! And what better then for a sketch challenge, designed by yours truly for Stuck on U Sketches

I have been really enjoying designing sketches which I've been doing for a bit now, and now with our new card challenges, I think I've been enjoying those even more! It's great having a place where you know each week will have original sketches! =)

 My sketch.

 My layout.

Anyone that has even once tried to put characters together will know how extremely time consuming it is! Let alone choosing different characters, moving and welding shadows together. I am sure the design alone took around 3 or more hours, and another day to put the page together (a day in the life of a Mom with 3 kids at home, which means I stopped 100 times before finishing).

Pretty happy with these guys...but by the look on their faces, not sure what they think of being put together!!!!

I used the large tree from My Community as a background for the photos. That inspiration came from the sketch, instead of using another patterned paper in the large square, added the tree instead. The hills were hand cut, the grass from Zooballoo. Butterfly punch and small flowers are Martha S.

Had to do a close up of the title! Font from Mickey and Friends Font (an all time fav of mine). To help this stand out, I clear embossed tiny polka dots from Papertrey Ink (polka dot background basics). Adore how that turned out! Plus the doodling and added clouds I think round out the Disney feel to the page!

Thanks for coming by and see you all soon...don't forget to check out the huge variation of projects by our Design Team! Such unique layouts this week!
