Summer Sweets ~SOUS I Love Summer Challenge~

Summer Sweets

This post is actually going up first for SOUS but most of you will see this as the second post on Friday so thanks for searching for me if you had to!

I think some of the fun of this time of year is the challenges that can come with it! So today at Stuck on U Sketches were are hosting our Die Cut Challenge and we've got...I Love Summer
What a delightful challenge! Don't you think!?!

Here is the fun page I've created...

Last years trip to our local fair had the best set of photos from it! Almost every single one I knew I wanted to scrap! It killed me to wait so long to do these! This is my little girl Jordyn enjoying a waffle cone ice cream in the wooden bleachers at the fair.

Summer was cut from Lyrical Letters cartridge and sweets from From My Kitchen. The little chipboard piece was from my stash and I added a puffy strawberry sticker. Also...lots of Stickles! SO pretty!

I used a good number of embossing folders on the ice cream treats...love that texture and the twine border

A few stickers elements from October Afternoon and another puffy sticker.

I was honestly scared about how this would turn out because the photos meant so much but I am happy with the end result. Even with the pastel colors since I tend to be more a brights girl...inking the edges helped greatly though to not look so cheesy.

But there you have it...thanks for the visit! See you soon!

Zumba Girls and some challenges...

Zumba Girls

Wow! Life is getting to me! LOL! Well...meaning I didn't realize I hadn't posted anything...but never fear! There is usually some draft in my blog roll waiting to be posted and shared with the world! LOL!

I had these good looking ladies as thank you cards for the 2 sweet Zumba instructors that teach free classes at a local church. I am beyond in love with the classes and wish I had found this a long time ago! Dancing is the most fun ever to me so I should have know!

The girls and background shapes were cut and colored with my Cricut Imagine, the card base paper is the Rock Star stack by DCWV. I've added some small Prima's and pearls and inked things in black...oh, and added Sizzix flourishes.  Easy and oh- so cute! The girls were really cute and I heard a lot of "Did you actually make those"! LOL! The card of handmade cards! =0)

And a few challenges to share this with as well! Yay!

 Southern Girls ~die cuts
Simon Says Stamp ~anything goes
My Time to Craft ~it takes two (ladies I certainly hope my semi-matching set of cards with similar elements will work for this challenge, if not, I understand! but I was inspired by this to add the same elements to each card but in different colors!

Ok, see you Friday....got a double day posted and ready to go! See you then...

Best Friends and Altered Frame ~SOUS Original Sketch by me!~

Best Friends

Praise the Lord! It is Friday! What a week! I have to tell you guys that I appreciate the caring comments I have gotten when I've expressed some of the grief going on at home with the kiddo's. Apparently I'm not the only one with little terror's right now (is it this time of year?) but it got bad enough this week that in the middle of the nastiness a hole got put into the wall (no, no one punched anything..but still). Anyways, any caring prayers for this Momma to keep her sanity, I'd appreciate!

But enough about that....how about a new sketch, by yours truly for Stuck on U Sketches!
I've always loved this style of scrapbook page but actually have never made anything like this...so I was very excited about the possibilities, I may have to try this one again...

 And my page...

Oh yeah...an iPhone picture! Maybe one of my most treasured photos also! Just a simply picture walking to school one morning...I'll admit this picture makes me melt into a thousand pieces...Lord I've never known a love like this!

All these great details, the prints and cuts came from Enjoy the Season's Imagine cart (minus the Best Friends from the same name cartridge). I've added some brad and pearl details as well...easy and way cute!

And...I am helping put together a gift for Scotti's teacher for an end of school year gift. A beach basket as I know she's such a fan of the beach, and she's an avid reader so we're getting her a big ol' gift card as well...but here's a quite altered frame I made to include in the basket...which I should photograph and share when that's complete!

Wonderful...well this weekend is the last full weekend we have as a family before Justin is gone for 2 weeks! So hopefully lots of family fun...and here's to a safe and fun holiday weekend for you guys as well! Hugs to all!

2012 Mothers Day Cards

You Are My Sunshine

Hi all! Before it gets to late after the day...I wanted to share my Mother's Day cards I made for this year. Because time was short I made the same card for both the Momma's in my life, my Mommy and my MIL. The card was fitting for both ladies. I thought of this because home means so much to my Mom and my MIL recently moved (closer to us) so the homes were perfect for her as well!

The cute house scene and sun are both from Imagine cartridge Better Together. Not the same cuts but I thought they were cute together!

I had no idea what detail to add to the card since it took up the whole card front. But its amazing what the little embroidery floss "clothesline" added...those darling (and pain in the butt) little bows and tiny flowers and shimmering, welcoming windows into the homes!

 Take care friends!
p.s. When the heck did The Bachelorette start? I thought I'd go to bed early and realized it was on! Geez! My very guilty pleasure...hehe! Oh and speaking of which...I think there's chocolate somewhere in my house! Yes! A good night!

Sweet Hugs ~SOUS Die Cut Challenge, Fruit~

Sweet Hugs

I am certainly feeling in a sentimental mood the last couple days. Times have been hard at home. My oldest son is suffering from allergies (like many of us) but in turn has had a hard time with asthma and is on a ton of daily medication. Because of all of this he is having breakdowns pretty much daily. It is draining on me and on him, I am sure. Then to top it off I have had about 4 nights sleep in over 3 weeks. With 3 young kids it seems someone is always up.
So with all this going on, I still seem to want to grasp at anything good, positive, inspirational and I still know my life is amazing, even if it's a bit tough right now.
Getting to the point...I am very, very grateful to the woman at Stuck on U Sketches. This is not only one of the most talented group of ladies out there, but their kindness and support is awesome! I have been told by our participants that they can tell the type of woman they are, and I love that! Love you guys (or should I say, gals!)

 Ok, ok...so....we have a new Die Cut Challenge for you guys and it's a yummy one...F R U I T!

Surprise, surprise, I don't know exactly what carts I used. But I do believe the square mat and circles are from Imagine More Cards. The cherry from Country Life (or is it From My Kitchen), see I never know! LOL! All the parts were cut and colored with the Imagine (only the white background is Basic Grey and the red lattice punched borders are a random red from my stash). Letters stickers are BG as well. I added a few little things like faux stitching, inking, twine, pearls and Liquid Pearls (for small accent on hearts).

Easy little card! I mean, they all take time to put together but it was simple enough and is super cute IRL.

Here is to wishing you all a wonderful weekend! I've got Zumba in the morning, a fun night planned for the children's ministry volunteers at church, the farmers market and visiting my Mom on Saturday, church Sunday and that's about it! I really do hope I can get time to craft! I haven't since last Saturday! boo!

Ok, ok...way too chatty! See you guys soon....

Baby Pockets ~ABC Challenges~

Baby Pockets

Ack! A day late in posting my ABC Challenges project for our half way through the month! You all know I'm not usually late but somehow my card is missing from my projects list on my blog so I guess I forgot! So....our challenge?

P for Pockets!

Our great sponsor this time is BunnyZoe! Thanks! Great luck everyone!

Ok, so a bit back I was trying to sell my Cricut Imagine. I was feeling like it was too much of a fuss etc, etc. But after realizing I'd get pretty much none of my money back, I decided to force myself to use it and love it!

So this was one of the first things I made (again, LOL) The great background paper and all the pocket cuts and prints were from the Imagine.

The popsicle, lion and airplane are small Snag Em' stamps by Imaginisce. Paper piecing these itty bitty's was pretty interesting but the impact was exactly what I wanted! I tried to add a little something special to each pocket. Using alpha stickers, buttons, hearts cut from the Imagine, a butterfly punch and some of details like bling, glitter and Glossy Accents.

I have no idea who this card is for but I have to tell you...I just may keep this one for now. I actually still have it sitting out in my room! LOL! Thanks so much for coming by and see you soon!!!!!

Play Hard, Play Often

Play Hard, Play Often

Hey all! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and hope that you got to spend it with those you love. Maybe even some Mom-time or time with the kids....or way better...time to yourself! Ha! We attended church and had some family time together. It was nice, and quiet and good to all be together (my husband has been working a lot lately).

I had a chance to sit the other evening and work on a design and then put it together this weekend. I had a good time looking at challenge sites and coming up with ones that I could use for my page, for example Crop Stop had an animal theme so I included the dinosaur (wasn't sure if him or a doggy or something but I have not done many dino's so I am glad I did that instead). Oh and Crafty Creations said to frame it so I chose this slightly wonky frame, fun!

Each cut had some detail added, either some popped punched shapes and gems, glitter outlining or details, buttons and lots of brown inking on all the cuts...

This very cool title comes from Graphically Speaking. Love! Echo Park letter stickers.

Watermelon is from Stretch Your Imagination (an oldie but goodie) and the robot is from Boys Will Be Boys.

As is the race card, the dinosaur is from Paper Doll Dress Up and the ball was a circle w/ a star cut. No particular cart.

Most of the paper came from Little Boy by Echo Park. I used that last Friday as well for my DT project for Stuck on U Sketches. Love that! And love this photo of my kiddo's from last year....

Thanks for coming by, thanks for the DT members of the challenge sites for visiting as well... ~Leah

Crafty Creations -frame it!
Southern Girls -about the boys!
Paper Shelter -anything goes
Crop Stop -show us the animal in you! (my dino!)
All Sorts -card or project for a man or boy

Choo Choo

Choo Choo

Well it is that time again that we have another sketch challenge for you at Stuck on U Sketches and I'm host this month so this one is by me! I hope you guys like it! Yeah, ok, so the challenge alone was the photos but with a little size tweaking in Photoshop I was good to go!

These wonderful photos were taken in June 2007. The amazing part is that almost to the month this photo of Scotti is the exact age of Cody now! I can't believe it...I always look back and think- I had 2 babies! With only a year and a half apart, so Jordyn was not yet 1 1/2. I can not, I repeat...can NOT imagine having my super busy Cody and another baby! Whoa, how the heck did I do that? LOL!

The yellow orange background paper is by K&Company, the dark blue is Bazzill and the rest is Little Boy by Echo Park, including the train stickers.

I actually had a bit of a time with this page, had even designed and cut a few things with the Cricut but just felt like the sizes were off and was not able to recut stuff, LOL, so this ended up being a simply embellished page. But to be honest, the colors and SO bold that I don't think anything was hurt by not adding more. I do really like the small buttons details though.

A bit of a short post for me but I think this bold page speaks for itself! I hope you all enjoyed the sketch and can not wait for you all to join us! Everyone has really been creating some wonderful things lately!

Weather the Storm

Weather The Storm

Oh my gosh! How quiet has my blog been! I hadn't even thought about it...really. And I guess that goes to show you how things have been here! Last weekend we ended up in the ER with my oldest son because of breathing difficulties due to a mix of allergies and asthma. He's better and at school but now I have my daughter home with a sick stomach. It's always something when the kids are young! And to mix it up, I've had major behavioral issues with everyone...is it that time of year?

I made this awhile back for a girlfriend but now that I am looking at it...I could of used this for myself! LOL! I have a wonderful friend whom I met through the crafty world and we've chatted for years now. She and her family are struggling with major health issues and so a card was the least I could do for her.

The weather vane is from Country Life and was heated embossed with several colors of Distress Embossing powder. The background is stamped and distressed and inked with white and brown inks.

And a few handout clouds to go w/ the storm theme and then my computer printed sentiment in a couple fonts and then handout into distressed banners. I meant the color to be different but went with it.

Oh...and look what is attached! YUM! One of the very best cookies I have EVER EVER EVER had! And to be totally honest, I've since made an entire batch and kept it as cookie dough! I omitted the eggs but it left it rather dry, so not sure what to do about that. Not that I worry too much about the raw egg but you never know.

You can find this recipe and many more pinned on my account on Pinterest but this recipe came from Picky Palate. My most favorite site ever for recipes. Go...you'll see why! But this one...chocolate, toffee, marshmallow...I don't think you could get a better mix then that! The recipe called for marshmallow bits (new in the stores) I didn't have those so went right for the small size. And loved!

This funny photo shows the hot mess that came from taking some too early...but delicious just the same! This mess with ice cream...oh yeah!

Have a wonderful day friends...getting closer to the weekend! Lots of cyber love ~Leah

Mom ~SOUS Die Cut Challenge- In Celebration of Mothers~

Mom

Hey Hey, it's Fri-day! With not too much on the horizon for weekend plans I am looking forward to it! Kinda a rough week with the kiddo's so I'm ready to move on...

And moving on...today is a Die Cut Challenge day at SOUS and it's an important one for the month of May, In Celebration of Mothers! I knew this would be an interesting one to do but in my search through a photo album my Mom put together of childhood photos of me, I came across these of my Mom that I "borrowed". And don't worry Mom, I scanned them..I don't think she likes the idea of "messing" with photos (meaning, scrapping them, really). So these, not the originals from my Mom's high school/college days.

This entire page is something pretty different for me, but I wanted to try a new style (with the circle die cut background) and "fill in the bubbles" kinda idea. All little goodies that tell the story about my Mommy...

 Here are the stunning photos...
And the beginning of her story, Mom, a cross for her love of the Lord, little "books" cut from printed paper and a stamp library card and mini paperclip for her love of reading and telling stories...

You can't have my Mom without some puppies, so this guy is from Paper Pups. And that funky chicken reminds us of the farm days growing up, from Country Life.

One of the most important things to my Mom, next to her family of course, is home. Home means a lot to her so this hand cut paper pieced house is a great symbol to speak of her. I found this small scrap of the ledger paper and a green tree, knowing immediately that it was perfect to tell of my Mom's deep love of nature (something I hope my kids will say about me as well...). I added some punched butterflies with pearls.

And you can't talk about my Mom without mentioning that she raised 6 kids! Yikes! And for fun I stuck in a lil' holiday sticker because she really, really loves the holidays! And last detail are the handmade (not by me) baking buttons with twine. My Mom is an incredible cook/baker! I call her ALL the time w/ questions!

I know this challenge could be hard for some but I hope this challenge can be more about the celebration of ALL the woman in our life...can you imagine your life without the other woman in it? I certainly can't, and even the idea is bringing tears to my eyes...

I really look forward to visiting you all with this challenge...so ya better play along! Good luck for the Top 3! Have a great weekend all!

Happy Easter ~ABC Challenges~

Happy Easter

Hey peeps! So even though we are a bit past Easter, it's still Spring and so this isn't too far off, right? Well this fun layout is for the newest challenge at ABC Challenges...we are getting down the alphabet and we're at O....for orange! I liked this a lot because personally I find it a great color that's often over looked, but as the compliment to blue, it should be used way more often! =0) Like try an orangish eyeshadow if you have blue eyes and watch your eyes pop! Ok...off topic...hehe!

Now sadly this didn't photograph with as strong as the oranges are in person, but it is the main color in the page! Just so you all know I am following the challenge... =0)

The great title comes from the Easter 2o1o Cricut cartridge with some butterflies from Pooh and Friends and some punched layered flowers. Liquid Pearls fill the flower centers and the butterfly wings.

Here is the garden scene with bunnies from Create a Critter and the carrots and worms. The hills were all hand cut and layered. With a few more fun details...

So this layout was a group effort! My scrappy girlfriend did this same page as well for herself, as we were putting these together, she did all the inking for both pages and I worked on the cutting and details like the watercoloring the color for the bunnies, things like that... It is SO fun to do this together and we managed to do this and also have 5 kids in the house! Go Momma's, Go Momma's! hahahaha!

One last photo to show the great dimension this page has! I made this layout awhile ago and it's still on my frig in the kitchen because I'm so not sick of it yet! LOL! I may pull this out each Easter to sit out! =0)

Well, I can not wait to come visit everyone for this challenge...I just hope to see LOTS of orange! See you all soon and hope your week is going along smoothly so far!
