My Friend, My Hero, My Love ~SOUS Die Cut Challenge, Flag~

My Friend My Hero My Love

Hey friends! I hope everyone is enjoying their Summer so far and hopefully you all have some good times planned! I was leaving town last Friday when I was posting my last Stuck on U Sketches projects and now later tonight I leave again for a short weekend away to the beautiful Northern California coast! I'm so so excited, we have  a romantic canvas tent with real beds rented and we're going to hike, drive down the coast to an amazing bakery for breakfast and hopefully find ourselves the only ones on a secluded beach! Yay!

Getting myself ready for the trip and for our current Die Cut challenge at SOUS...we have the challenge....Flag!

This idea came to mind pretty quickly, my husband is in Law Enforcement and though not the same as our military, it's as close as any other job is going to get. And they do their job daily for our people so...the flag theme seemed fitting.

These kinds of titles seem to be the new thing in electronic die cutting and you'll find lots of these around. I do love the style of these and decided to make my own! I know that "my" came from All Mixed Up but now for the life of me I can't seem to recall which font was for the others...My Hero is from Stand and Salute, as is the flag and circle star.

I did some embossing and even rubbed some off so it had a more imperfect look...and popped the brown title off of the black shadow.

I snuck a little writing into this space...

And last picture is my multi layered star accent which was also heat embossed. The wonderful paper line is by Bo Bunny and was from last year. I'd assume its still available somewhere? I do like some of the prints but some I don't see very usable because of how busy they were, so it's a so-so line or one that is much better if you can choose prints instead of getting the whole collection. But anyways...

And is it for me! I'm SO excited to see what everyone else does...I do love myself some Americana so I knew this was going to be a great challenge! Have a great weekend!

Home...

Hi all!

We got back from vacation late last night and so today is a "put away" day! It's amazing the work that does into a trip and then multiple that by how many kids you have...yeesh!

We had a good trip and the kids got to do a ton of fun stuff! Lucky them!

So here are a few photos to share...

While in Reno visiting with my husband's family we took the kids to this place that had it all...indoor mini golf, bowling, a huge indoor play structure thingy. Then go carts and another part had a huge water park that the kids visited the second day (while Mommy stayed back at the house and almost read an entire book!) Here is Jordyn and her cousin, then Cody riding bikes...

Jordyn and Scotti at one of the casino's when just the 4 of us went out for buffet breakfast...

 And now...at Lake Tahoe...

And our last day at Fallen Leaf Lake...

Ok...well back to laundry and all that comes with coming home from a trip! =) Thanks for letting me share...

See you Friday with something crafty!

Sandy Bottoms ~SOUS Sketch June 22~

Sandy Bottoms

Hey all! While you guys are probably reading this, I'll be on the road headed for a little Summer vacation! A few days at my in-laws new place in Reno, NV and then a couple more days in Lake Tahoe at a cabin with my family! So lots of good family time!

But don't worry...I scheduled this so no one would have to miss nothing! LOL! Ok, ok...so today we have a sketch for Stuck on U Sketches by Sandi Clarkson (no, no I did not name this layout after her...hehe!)

This is another honeymoon page! While we were riding down the road on the Big Island (taking you back to July 2003) out in the distance was the bluest water I had ever, ever seen. So we pulled to the side of the road, found a trail and found that beach! We did pass a house and we did pay for the probable trespassing by walking under these trees that dropped 3 inch long thorns, I had to be carried out because I only had cheap flip flops on. Almost 9 years ago and I still remember...

My title was welded with the font from Lifes a Beach, I made a shadow in another color, welded a shell and added some Stickle bling...

I thought this was a neat version of the sketch, using the large sand dollars as the squares on the sketch. The seaweed and turtles are both from Lifes a Beach as well. Just cut in many shades of blue, inked with blue and green Distress Inks and blue and green Stickles.

The layers and shine in person make this something really special...sadly I don't think it photographed with the real life appeal..but not too bad =0)

I hope you will all miss me while I am gone...LOL!
Thanks for coming by, see you all next week!

The Start of Summer...2012

Hey everyone! I don't have anything crafty to share today but I do want to share what the start of my Summer has been like!

The kids finished school and these are photos of me and them on their last day. I went to school everyday that week (up to 4 trips a day) to snap photos of all the activities!

Really cute one of Scotti, huh? LOL! Wouldn't just make it easy for me...

The last day of school my girlfriend came from out of town and spent a whooping 6 days here with her little ones. 5 kids under 7....yes I know, but not as bad as you would think! It was pretty great actually...gosh I miss them! Brandi and I would stay up each night, watch a movie, eat cookie dough and have cocktails! =) I was SO excited to get this photo of all of them...if you ever wondered how many kids fit in a super cheap kiddie pool...now you know!

And most importantly...my angel (*ahem*) turned 3! He takes my breathe away...happy, energetic, silly, sweet...my Lord how I love him...

And then...Father's Day! We met my whole family, all 12 of us, at the park for some sandwiches and not much else..it was 90 something that day! LOL! This is my Daddy and my hubby....

I'll be back next week to share family vacation photos...one more day and we hit the road!

Travel Life's Roads Together Forever ~ABC Challenges~

...NOT FOR MY HUBBY TO SEE...

I have to start that way because apparently he enjoys reading my blog! LOL! And this is another one for my wedding album so...

And if you are here for SOUS...just one more post down, AFTER you see this one! LOL!

This darling little page is for the newest challenge over at ABC and it's an enjoyable one...R for Romance. Which is a great challenge for this time of year since weddings are in season! But even if you don't have a wedding in particular, anything romantical =0) will work!

These are a couple more pictures from my drive through wedding in Las Vegas at the Little White Wedding Chapel.

Both travel and together are words from Graphically Speaking cartridge. Pink stickers are Echo Park and black ones are Simple Stories.

My map is from Going Places cart. I have no idea why I think its so cool but I'm already coming up with ideas to use it again, paper is by Bo Bunny (map only).

This paper line, top ledger and strips along the bottom are by Echo Park, This and That Graceful. I believe most of the solids are from Walmart.

I started the whole design for this entire layout based on the fact that I wanted to add a bicycle. My husband loves riding and our whole family really does, so this 2 seater bike from Sweethearts was perfect for this! When I designed this using my Gypsy I chose the photo sizes and then sized these other cuts to fit.

Well gosh, I think that does it for today...sorry to long since there are two posts today...but hope you enjoyed visiting anyways!

Just Like Daddy ~SOUS Die Cut Challenge Fathers Day~

Just Like Daddy

I am soooo beyond excited to share my recent layouts with you guys! This one in particular and the next will post in a few hours...so pretty much you get 2 within a day! Yay! PLUS...there's a bonus layout with the similar design and my friend and I created these pages together this past week...

We have the new challenge posted for Stuck on U Sketches and that newest one is...All About Fathers! Please remember folks...these are Die Cut challenges, not punches, not stamps. Just saying...

I had this photo pulled out for awhile to use and was really excited to start the ideas for it. So another night I sat down after the kids bedtime and got busy designing...The photo is my Daddy and I in our camper. Oh gosh,  I have the worlds best memories of that camper! And...more importantly, the best memories of my Dad growing up. It means so much to me that my husband understands and wants to be there for his kids so they too, will have those memories of their Dad. Not just the Dad that shuts himself up in his den each night...

The frame is from Storybook and the birdie journaling sticker by October Afternoon. The two small strips of paper are by DCWV and the striped ribbon is Kaiser Craft.

I tried so so hard to get this to photograph! The gloss on the green paper was SO crazy perfect for leaves! I'm going just to cut a page full of leaves because its just that cool! The branches are from Zooballoo as are the embossed clouds.

My title..darn, don't remember the fonts...of course... but the VERY cute deer is from Campin' Critters and the camp fire from Create a Critter.

And the second page my friend put together using DCWV The Guy Stack.  Brandi's photo is from a vacation in Tahiti. Not exactly camping but the colors were perfect and the fish are great with the water photo...sometimes we worry too much with all themed stuff, ya know?

I glued my stuff together too quick..but how great is the embossing on this???

Ok, long posts and lots of posts...so let me get going...thanks SO much for coming by!

Grow Love Teach

Grow Love Teach

So hey friends...I put together these cards to give my children's teachers at the end of the school year.
I had the idea in terms of how teachers are such a massive part of our children growing...and of course with the love that they constantly give...came the idea for this heart tree.

The plaid background is K and Company. The shape is from Once Upon a Princess and the colors/prints are from the Hopscotch Imagine cart. The hearts are punched...except the smallest heart well that won't be used again, the punch broke after these! What a bummer!

I did a little stamping on the tree trunk and the banner but hand wrote the sentiment.

 Simple but sweet!

And sorry for the lack of posts...I am creating, but so much of it is future challenges so I don't have to much to add at the moment...
And my lack of commenting. Last week the kids finished school and then I had company that just left last night! Its been a good but long last couple weeks!

What's Cookin' Good Lookin'? ~SOUS June 8 Sketch~

What's Cookin' Good Lookin'?

Hey all! Sorry it's been awhile since I've posted! Whew, the end of the school year is a busy, busy time! Yesterday was the last day, wow! I'm so proud of my babies growing up and changing and getting so big (well kinda, they are still both little for their age). LOL! Ok, ok let me just get into it...

This layout is for our current sketch challenge, a design by Sandi C, for SOUS! Check it out!

These sweetie pie photos are from last year. My little guy has always really enjoyed dressing up! So fun! So I caught him with a few photos and came up with this page...
I struggled in the beginning with the shapes to follow the sketch and the patterns but ended up pretty happy with this fun little project.

The BBQ is from Everyday Paper Dolls. That cart doesn't have any layers so I just cut this a few times and cut apart pieces to make this. The paper stack is used from DCWV is All About Boys.

I used a few Sassafrass chipboard stickers, cute huh?

And Distress Stickles for the letters...

 And that baby...ahhhhh me love-a baby! =0)

Ok, a quick from me today! LOL! Remember I'm in the middle of my 2 week stretch without my hubby home. It's been an adventure! But I have a dear friend and her little ones staying with me so it will be great. Your never too old for a slumber party!

Pizza ~ABC Challenges Q for Quilt~

Pizza

Yeah friends! Happy Friday everyone! I have 2 posts going today, Stuck on U Sketches went up late last night so if you are here looking for that, enjoy this card and then scroll -on- down...LOL!

If you are looking for ABC Challenges and the Q is for Quilt challenge, picked by yours truly! Then you are in the right spot!

We have our fabulous sponsor, Bugaboo stamps and this knock out is from them! Thanks! Check out the site for the great prize package at ABC!

I had a heck of a time with this challenge (yeah, I know, I chose it!) between the kinda girlish challenge (quilt) and the not so girly image and more importantly...the sentiment! How was I going to make this work to give to my husband with a "quilted" background?

I played around with these precut squares and finally went with something simple, with some enhancing embossing to the square. Can you stand that sentiment? Hahaha! Luckily in my house...you get the cop AND the pizza (that being one of the only foods my husband eats, followed closely by donuts ~its true!)

So I had to take a stab at making my own mini dishes and I think they came out very cute! I may do this again!

Ok...don't go yet! Please! There's more to see in another post for today....hugs...
