Fun At The Beach ~SOUS Card Sketches August 1~

Fun At The Beach

I don't know how I managed to miss the debut of our newest challenges at Stuck on U Sketches, but I did! Argh! But never fear! This is our second Card Sketch challenge and our Guest Designing Sketch artist is a wonderfully talented friend, Debbie Burns. Thanks Debbie for sharing this with us! Now new challenges take some time to take off but I do hope that everyone will help get the word out on the newest challenges to be added to our site!

Here is my fun and funky Summer inspired card using Debbie's sketch...

The pink card base is Papertrey Ink and the bold prints are by Echo Park, as are the stickers on the bottom of the page. I used some chipboard from my stash and a wave border punch and some cork for the sand.

One more quick pic for the coloring, I used a mix of marker and colored pencil. Finally, another woman with my hips and blonde hair! LOL!

Thanks for visiting...there's another post today! Phew!

S'more BBQ~SOUS Die Cut Challenge BBQ~

S'more BBQ

Can I tell you how much I have looked forward to creating this page for this challenge! This week our Die Cut Challenge at Stuck on U Sketches is...BBQ. Yum! And we've got our last new face finally joining in, Kimi..so we're a full house again!

I've had these super, duper fun photos of my kiddo's since last year and have always been dying to create a page with them! Have you ever felt intimated knowing you had to create the best page ever to go with those beloved photos? Oh, man did I feel that way this time! So one day I sat for uh, at least an hour and played with designs. I only came up with the s'more's on the side and the critter. I wasn't feeling it so put that all away. When when the time came, it did work out! Yay!

The background paper and plaid are from The Guy stack by DCWV. All other pieces are randomness from my stash. The BBQ King was fussy cut from the paper, I made the Meat Market tag using the printed piece cut from an Echo Park paper and backed w/ a distressed white. Also stuck in a branch die cut and some stamped tags.

I thought this bottle cap went well with the theme. It was sitting on my desk wanting to be used! LOL! I punched this circle from pattern paper, added black gems and filled with Crackle Accents.

Well I do hope you like this page and hope you'll check out the rest of the team's designs!

Love This Lake ~SOUS Sketch Challenge~

Love This Lake

Hello my fabulous friends! Good Friday to you! Anyone has good plans this weekend? My hubby is trying to talk me into Six Flags/Marine World on Saturday and my oldest son and Daddy are attending his first baseball game and going to see the A's in Oakland after church. So that should be a quiet day for the most part.

But the reason I am here on this wonderful Sunny Friday is to share my layout for today's sketch brought to you by everyone's favorite scrapper, Nanne! She designed another wonderful one for us at Stuck on U Sketches and this is my take.

What? You are thinking this is so soft and awful girly for me? Yay...you are so right! LOL! But I do really like how it turned out! Plus, something not to overtly themed to match the photo, which I tend to do. This is a current picture of Justin and I at Lake Tahoe from our recent family vacation.

The oh-so lovely floral is the newest Spring stack by DCWV. I do love florals but do not purchase much in patterned paper and this set is probably the most favorite I have seen. Makes me think to get another. The title is a mix of stickers and the title font (lake) is from Lyrical Letters.

I've punched some butterflies, fussy cut a dragon fly (to match the tone on tone dragon fly print that I used and added lots of Stickles! I did fussy cut a few things from the paper stack as well and stuck it in here and there.

All these beautiful pieces are stamps and matching die cuts from Papertrey Ink (flowers, branch and banner). I stamped with Distress Ink, sprayed the stamp with water and turned these into watercolor blooms. Love! And also used a branch die cut and cut that in a print and then solid kraft card stock, which is what I matted everything in as well.

Oh, don't forget the pink and blue inking I did as well for the edges...Ok...I do think that's it! LOL!

 Sorry, long post!

Don't forget to stop by SOUS and see what everyone did and....our NEW Card Sketch challenges! About time, huh?

 K, see you all soon!

Teddy Card ~ABC Challenges 2 by 2~

Teddy Card

We are lucky enough at ABC Challenges to be sponsored for this challenge by The Paper Shelter.
And they were also gracious enough to share an image to use on our projects. This time around our challenge is "2 by 2", using 2 of something on your project.

I chose a great digi image of this little guy holding a flower and after a ton of fussy cutting, I couldn't just arrange the flowers like I liked so I did some snipping and added "real" flowers. =)

I did a bit of cutting on the image to make him stand out a bit more, embossing his tummy too! I chose to print the image already colored to help save a bit on time!

And my 2 by 2 for the challenge are the leaved branches and the 2 blooms and buttons!

Though a relatively easy card, there was fussy cutting, stamping, die cutting (branch) and embossing. So easy still means some time to put together, right? I guess only fellow crafters understand that part!

Hope you all had a fabulous weekend! ~Leah

Happy Bee-Day ~SOUS Die Cut Challenge, Hidden Tag~

Happy Bee Day

So I am pretty sure no one has missed me...I'm not feeling sorry for myself, I'm just saying that with so many Summer happenings that I haven't been around blog land much and I am guessing you all are probably thinking the same thing (if you even read this that is! LOL!)

But, if you are here then today is a challenge reveal day for Stuck on U Sketches and our Die Cut Challenge. It's a really neat one picked by my really neat friend, Nanne! =)

 A Creative Hidden Tag!

Just you go run over and see what the girls did...cool cool stuff!

Here's my little card...reshaped a bit using my Gypsy, all the cuts are from the Create a Critter cartridge

So it's a shaped card the but top panel was popped off the base and so I added a tag there. You can see it pulled out slightly at the top here.

A close up of my hand drawn face and little details I added...easy but cute!

Quick post! We leave for another weekend away tomorrow so not much time for blogging! I'll see you all soon...

Always in Action ~SOUS Sketch July 6~

Always in Action

Whoa! Into July already! What the heck! How can it be? Ahhhhhh!
Ok, so having moments of panic that the Summer is over already and truth is, this is one of our better Summers so I'm not ready for school to kick in! But I can calm down a bit, right, since we just had the 4th of July here in the States? I hope you all had a wonderful, safe and fun holiday! Ours was simple, some time at home and then to a neighbors. I loose my husband on this holiday since he's a cop in the city and we do fireworks. Not that I go see them...but still...kinda sad not to have him with us.

But onto today's post! geez! We have a sketch challenge for you at Stuck on U Sketches. And its a great one from my wonderful friend Nanne Harry! You'll love it but you have to head to the blog to see it... I used My Minds Eye, Good Day Sunshine line for all the papers on this layout. Cute huh? A great score from my shopping trip at the Scrapbook Expo.

Here's a close up of some photos I took on a bike ride to the park recently...

I also did some teeny tiny paper piecing with a couple Imaginisce stamps. Darling!

The photo is washed out but boy was cutting these something else...LOL! Yikes! But worth it for the world's smallest detail...hahaha! I also layered in some blooms from my stash (both sets of blooms I used were gifts from 2 of my bestest buddies..thanks Nanne and Sandi!)

And lastly, my title...some stickers, Thickers (my only set)...I love how the bridge on the printed paper lent way for this spot for the title. Totally perfect!

Ok, that does it...I'll see you soon! Thanks as always for coming by... ~Leah

1 2 3 ~ABC Challenges S for Surprise~

1, 2, 3

Starting off the wonderful month of July with ABC Challenges and a new challenge, S for Surprise! Isn't that a fun challenge?

We also have a great sponsor Stamp Fairy! Most of the gals were able to use their fabulous images, I didn't luck out this time but be sure to stop by and see the creations and also what the great prize will be! Yay!

I knew right away I wanted to do a birthday layout for my little guy that just turned 3. As I was putting this together I had to think about the challenge still...the word Surprise did fit into my design so I decided to make some surprises on the page instead...

The paper line I used was by? Close to my Heart? Or another line like that? I can't recall as I was putting this page together and another exact copy of this while my girlfriend was crafting and doing another page. Cute line though, I'm sure it's no longer available. =(

The first surprise is that each photo mat also has a hidden tag behind it! For more photos or journaling about the special day! The sundae and candles both come from Birthday Bash which is a cart I do not own but my friend has so I designed this on her Gypsy.

My last surprise....each letter is set with curled wire so they each wobble! How fun is that!

There was lots going on here, lots of layering, colors, embossing, gems and glitter! It was something else and the first time as well that I put together 2 layouts as well...I'm very good at the mass producing! LOL! But all the cuts and cuts and cuts were challenging, I was pretty done at the end! LOL!

I look forward to visiting you all and hope you'll take time to see the DT creations as well! Always wonderful!
