Thankful Love ~SOUS January 31 Sketch~

Thankful Love

  Happy Friday folks!
Dealing with more sickie's this week. Oh geez! This momma needs a break! So with that I haven't been able to craft this week and it's starting to bug me…LOL! But I did manage to make the best (that I've ever had!) chicken salad! I've come so far with cooking/baking…so cool to be making good things to eat. I should seriously get better at sharing recipes here!

Well, today us gals at Stuck on U Sketches have another sketch challenge using something a little bit different that I created for you…I hope you like the sketch! I'll admit to being a bit thrilled at the neat projects created by our crazy amazing DT! =) You loves rocked it!

A few photos of my family…my sisters pictured together and my niece above.

Easy way of dealing with the multi layers of the butterflies was to staple with Tim Holtz mini attacher.
The vellum background for the butterflies helped them stand out without the extra color or print of paper (cause they're certainly was enough going on!) I also rolled a stylus behind each green leaf to give some dimension. I found the trick in doing this is the roll over a piece of foam so there is something soft to give into the pressure.

A little more vellum to frame the word love.

Papers~
Basic Grey Nook and Pantry
DCWV Guys Stack
various BG scraps

Santa Pants and Cinnamon Ornaments ~SOUS Die Cut Challenge~

Santa Pants

We have a new challenge for you all at Stuck on U Sketches for our Die Cut Challenges...Something to Wear!
This past Christmas I wanted to make something a little bit different for one of my children's teachers. I had a giftcard to give her and a homemade ornament and after looking around at the Silhouette online store I saw this and thought it was perfect and great for our SOUS challenge! =) This is a Lori Whitlock file. Cute, huh? Could totally change this up and make it with plaid paper and make it a giftbox for Fathers Day or something! =) Maybe minus the holly? LOL!

I made a whole bunch of these guys and decorated some to give to friends. I've literally wanted to do these for years and years and finally did! Yay! I followed this recipe here but pretty much all the recipes are the same =)
I decorated these babies with some Tiny Tag stamps and die from Papertrey Ink and a couple punched snowflakes and leaves. To finish off I added a bell and twine to each =)

Simple but sweet packaging in matching colors to each ornament

Simple post today but hope you enjoyed!

So I have a layout and sketch to share for you today as it's a sketch day at Stuck on U Sketches
I am going to keep this kinda short. I've had a sick kid at home and I watch a baby part time now and trying to keep everything clean and all...well I am seriously exhausted! And while I am readying this post a night early Thursday night my husband and I have a date and are going to The Road Show in San Jose, Ca! Very excited but nervous as to where my energy is going to come from...so I can get my dance on! =)

Anyhow...here's my bright and happy Summer page (since it is clearly NOT Winter here in California...drought conditions and all...) Local fire danger signs in January! Totally true!

Merry Jingle Joy ~SOUS Die Cut Challenge Snowman~

Merry Jingle Joy

Are you ready for another challenge?
As usual, I am alllllllls about die cutting! I LOVE that you barely need a thing other then some paper...and let's get honest, we HAVE paper! =)
So, I was excited for Stuck on U Sketches snowman Die Cut Challenge!
I got busy with cutting and cutting....oh, and cutting! 5 layers per wreath, just saying... =)

I had an idea to splatter paint. But I was pretty worried if it would end up reading "snow" or Jackson Pollock? Luckily my watered down acrylic paint was right on and looks snow good in person! I actually rather using paint then most new paint sprays as I believe you get more control and also paint leaves small raised paint spots and it looks way cool!

How about those cuties? Yes, the snowman are darling but talking about my babies from this Christmas Eve (something about knowing Santa's coming that sure can get a kid (and parent) to smile!)

Papers~
Crate Paper (blue and white chevron)
cardstock; American Crafts, Walmart,
Recollections (white shimmer) and scraps
Die Cutting~
Silhouette Store: wreath, title (multiple mixed together),
snowmen and cardinal
Embellies~
snowflakes punches (MS and EKSuccess)
buttons, gems and pearls

Very Merry ~SOUS Jan 3 Sketch and SOUS Blog Candy~

Very Merry

Ok! Lots to share today so I'll attempt to keep myself in check! =)
First, my baby girl was supposed to have tonsil/adenoid surgery today but we are rescheduling due to a wonderful winter cold. I am relieved though because I didn't want to worry about her not being 100% and still going through with it. So that's one thing to put off.
Secondly, it's 2014 which is weird. Ok so I am still like a 90's girl and can remember how crazy strange writing 2000 and beyond was...apparently now the teens are hard to deal with! LOL!
Well, let's get to scrapping! FINALLY! Finally....literally it's been 2 months since I have created a scrap page! Not since my retreat in early November. December was all about Christmas cards and teacher gifts. Good but mad for scrapping. It felt beyond incredible to create again!

Here's my page for Stuck on U Sketches for the sketch I created! =)

I'll get to products as the end of the post but just have to tell you
that Stuck on U Sketches will be having monthly sponsors
for blog candy for our challenge participants! Exciting stuff I tell you!
First up, thank you very much is....
