Beach Bums ~Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbon~

Beach Bums
I have a very special layout to share today and something that reminds us of warmer days. But for the record…we are still plenty warm here! Everyone still wearing shorts, even on the ONE rainy day we had last week.
Today's layout is created using ALL Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbon cutting files!

One of my favorite ways to design a scrapbook page featuring die cuts is to use one BIG center of focus image. Yes, little is cute but big means a grander impact on your page. Then you can come in with those smaller details. I started with a sandcastle and pretty much sized it as large as possible to fit my page. Do keep in mind, you really want to have your photos chosen first. Know what's going on the page and then size everything around those pictures! Trying to fit it the other way around is a pain! I promise!
And don't forget the background! Add layering, not only think matting photos but think of background! Adding the super big sun in the back adding another layer, more interest and more color to the page. Same with the clouds. You could of added nothing to the sky but this is SO much more fun!

To mimic a beachy feel I sprayed a tan and brown mist on the paper and inked my separate piles of sand. I sprayed the sandcastle as well and chose 3 different tan colors and textured paper for more interest. Each cut on the page was also inked in matching colors (sand, shells, etc).

Let me share the cutting files and I'll let you go…sometimes I try not to chat too too much when I share SO many photos. Plus, who reads this stuff anyways? LOL!

Thank you SO much for coming by! Hope you really like this! Yay!

Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbon Design Team Day

Birthday Wishes
Hiiiiii Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbon people! I ADORE my Design Team days for PPPR! I am just in love with the designs by Lisa and am excited to share with you today!
I started with some party balloons from a graduation set, Hats Off. Being surrounded by little ones, I have no need for graduation hats but man…love that cluster of balloons! Super useful! I can see making this card over and over again and just changing the color scheme up! To make this a bit more "in the mail" friendly, you could choose not to add foam behind anything and keep this flat. Because of the layers already in the card, it will still be great without that, but of course, 3D pops!!!! =)
Another fun design idea when you are creating a card that really centers around a single focal image, is to try off setting it. I could have easily sized the balloons to sit in the center of the card, with no need to trim the sides. But there is something more interesting and organic about something that comes to the edges of a project. Hard to explain…but try it out! =)

I had this bold multi-colored polka dot background and decided to soften it slightly by adding a vellum layer over it. That also helps the balloons stand out just a bit more as well. Adding any layer helps build interest on a project so I decided to cut a vellum layer behind the sentiment spot as well. Not necessary but a nice detail! I also could of left the card just as is…but I felt like there was just a bit of something it needed…yes, even after adding the gems. And that was the black doodling around the card. So happy with that in the end!

Hope you enjoyed this card! For awhile I am keeping this in my scrappy room and not giving it away just yet! LOL!

Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbon Fun with Puns Blog Hop

We have a fun hop today! So hope you'll join us!

Did you arrive from Kathy's blog? Hope so! If not, head back here for more details!

Our theme this time around is….Fun with PUNS! Cute, right? The gals came up with great stuff! And of course, we used PPPR files to create these projects!

For extra chances, you can also "LIKE" Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons on Facebook   and/or sign up for the Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons Newsletter. A random winner will be chosen for the prize on Tuesday, September 17.

Ohhhhhh and always drop in during hop time cause Lisa has the CUTEST free files available during hop times only! Another awesome reason for coming by! =)

Good luck and thanks for visiting me!!!!

Long story short, I was thinking of my childhood best friend when I came up with this idea…peas know how much I miss you…kinda an old fashion vibe to the card with the floral and lace =)

I used the Seed Packet cutting file and just filled my bowl (ice cream bowl, trimmed to fit) up with a variety of green peas. I layered in my green leaves and fussy cut tags in the background. Little ink and more layers and the card was complete!

Hey before I go…each month there is also a challenge for YOU that kinda goes along with our blog hop. You can find the info here about our monthly challenge. Fun With Puns. Hop for a chance to win $15 and play along with the challenge for another $20 chance to win…pretty great odds if you join us each month!!!!!!!

Ok, next stop…my friend…Melisa! Later ladies!
