Hey all! I am sharing my Linky Party project for Craftin Desert Divas. We want to see your patriotic projects (USA and Canada)! Remember when you join our parties we have great prizes, a chance to win a stamp set of your choice from our shop or $25 at Too Cute By Jessica. Good deal!
My card is something graphic and artsy and was given to my hubby for Father's Day. My husband is a law enforcement officer and the idea was to represent the "thin blue line." I would encourage you to google that saying and see what it means for yourself. It's pretty cool!
I die cut my background on all white paper, except the blue stripe and stars. I used a mix of blue and black paint, along with a shimmer spray. The card is pretty cool in person!
My dear friends, I can not believe this huge part of my life is now coming to an end! Nanne, my best crafty friend and co-leader have run SOUS for almost 6 years! Helping lead and organize so many talented and amazing ladies. Not to mention choosing many challenges and creating original sketches. Honestly, I think my skills really took off after starting with SOUS. I have much to be grateful for! And most importantly, the friendships I've made! Including meeting fellow team mate Tracey, when she visited me in California from Australia! And of course, meeting my Finnish buddy, Nanne! Who knew I'd have a best friend across the world! Amazing!
So our last, very last challenge to share with you all...one to help us take off from where we've been...Die Cut Challenge, WINGS. Birds, butterflies, airplanes, fairies, bugs...you get the idea.
I mixed my Silhouette die cut birdie with the frames and sentiment metal dies by Papertrey Ink. The add some dimension to the card, I cut the frames and sentiments many times and adhered them together. Adding a line of Glossy Accents covered in glitter to the border helps add another detail but also pull in the stamped, embossed and glittered sun. This was my first experience using an embossing powder that turns sticky once heated. It was SO cool and for sure the easiest thing I have done to use loose powder.
Thanks again my friends and our SOUS followers...for making us one of the original challenge sites and a go-to place for lots of project inspiration! Blessings to you all!

Okay, ready to see my project? Let's check it out! I've used a few of the new mini sets, Crabby (crab, sentiment), Wanna Hug (sentiment), Wish Upon a Star (seaweed) and Beach Bound (sunglasses and starfish).
After having a total blast creating my background kraft card stock to have a sandy feel (the tone on tone stamping with the shells from Beach Bound are hidden behind the paint!), and then coloring my under the sea view, I finished off the card by adding Wink of Stella and Glossy Accents to the sunglasses. The look in person, plus the shine of the added Liquid Pearls to the inlaid die cut wreathe (or seaweed for this card) finishes off the card perfectly!

Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbon day! Woohoo! Can you believe I have waited almost 2 months to share this! My favorite, ever, ever project for PPPR! This little sweetie is over at our county fair getting herself a winning ribbon! Yay! I knew immediately that this card had to go into the competition at our fair so when I gave this to my sister for her birthday, I said "now can I have that back?" LOL! Totally true story!
Ok...let's get to this card...
As darling at this little girl was, I wanted to give her a different hair do. Something a bit more ethnic feeling. Easy to do with the extra files the shop has! You'll see the example below with the photos of the cutting files I used.
Oh my! The shine! This card is so pretty! No matter what I tried, I couldn't get the sparkle to really shine for the photos. But the shirt, hair bow and yellow on the cake are covered in Wink of Stella. Not to mention the bling-ed out background!
The starburst cutting files are some of my favs in the shop. How I only came up with this idea now, I have no idea. It took some serious time but I did the background in steps. The darker shade was shaped with a star background pattern and dusted with Perfect Pearls. The lighter shade was stamped and dusted but with a different stamp and color of Perfect Pearls. Then over all that, I used a balloon stencil with Versamark. It was my first time using an embossing powder that once heated turns sticky. That was the perfect base for all that glitter! This background is easily my favorite background I've ever created!
I'm sharing this Fathers Day card for the Craftin Desert Divas Fathers Day challenge. At first I really must admit that I had no idea at all for what I was going to do. Luckily, when faced with a challenge, the best thing to do is to just look at your stash and see what speaks to you! The "you are my hero" sentiment is what I found first and, of course the superhero image...then it hit me to add a die cut dad to it! Perfect!
The idea for adding a vellum layer came while putting together the card. I really like the way it mutes the background city scape. For something very different, I stamped and embossed the superhero and colored that on vellum as well!
This was my first experience coloring vellum and it is very, very different. Lines show, blending doesn't really happen. It could of been my markers, or the vellum. I'm not sure. It worked well enough for something small. All in all, I'll try it again someday cause the look is really cool!
Oh and don't forget we always have awesome Linky Party prizes! A stamp set of your choice from CDD or $25 to Too Cute by Jessica. Before I forget to remind you of that!
I used this file from Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbon to create the card base and layers,
I'm not sure if you have heard the news, but Stuck on U Sketches will be ending our near 6 year run this month! We'll still have brand new challenges each Friday this month but will no longer be posting after this. It was a huge decision for Nanne and I, one that wasn't the easiest to make. Luckily because of this blog, I've made some of the dearest friends of my life! Not to mention, my co-hostess and best friend, Nanne! We've posted tons of challenges, learned how to create scrapbook sketches and shared countless projects. It's been an amazing experience! And that's mostly for the friends I've made...and our incredibly talented design team members over the years!
So our Die Cut Challenge...SUMMER!
I think I nailed this theme! =)
Since there are so many photos, I thought I'd keep my chatting to a minimum. Cause there is a lot to see and many details I added! Can you tell everything I did?
