Wanna Holiday Hug? ~Craftin Desert Divas~

Wanna Holiday Hug?

Hi friends! Hope you all had an incredible holiday! I'm here sharing a Christmas card for CDD and I had so much fun making this! My only complaint is that I ended up trimming down (by using a CDD die) the stamped background and I wish I hadn't because it showed less and it turned out too cute. May have to repeat myself and make something else similar! Anyways, this darling set featuring my Christmas octopus (LOL) is on sale at CDD and so I'm featuring that today on the shop blog! Details can be found here!

I am such a fan of creating my own pattern paper with stamps and this background turned out super fun! Love mixing sets and thinking outside the box to turn them into something Christmasy! I added some red and white bakers twine and a couple jingle bells. And then around the card added some jelly roll pen in a clear shimmer. Super pretty but hard to pick up on camera. Coloring is a mix of Distress Ink for the background and Spectrum Noir makers for the rest of the stamp coloring.

Here are the products from our shop that were used...

Thank you as always for stopping in to visit!

Deck the Halls ~Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbon~

I'm here for Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbon and I'm sharing something holiday with you. Highlighting some photos from last years tree trimming. I kept the page pretty simple but added the large ornaments as the focus of the page. The papers and layering help add some other detail to this otherwise simple page.

I did add some dimension to the ornaments but the only other embellishing was done with a glitter gel pen. The shine is so gorgeous! I wanted to title to stand out but allow the ornaments to stay center stage. I cut 4 layers in white and adhered together and topped with a 5th layer in blue. The white on the side and the dimension (and Wink of Stella over top) let the sentiment stand out just enough.

For a simple page, I really ended up loving this. The colors and papers and these beautiful ornaments with added bows were just perfect!

Here are the files I've used, simple and sweet.

I have some blogging time off so I won't be back again until after Christmas so I want to wish you all a VERY blessed and happy Christmas! It's an amazing time of year and I am so excited to get this time with my family. And such a blessing to have my hubby home all of the winter break days with me and the kids. It's a gift in itself!

   Lots of love, Leah

Love, We Make a Great Pear ~Craftin Desert Divas~

Hiya friends!  I am thinking ahead a little bit to Valentines day and wanted to think outside the box a bit with the stamp set, Farmers Market from Craftin Desert Divas. This easily is one of my favorite sets and I loved coming up with this card that I plan to give my hubby!

Did I mention this set is on SALE? Yep! Having some December fun! So if you love this set, grab it while you can get a deal!

Ok so first I want to say, do not be afraid to cut up your stamps! Trim them up and they easily go back together on a clear block if you need them back together again. I very carefully trimmed off the small heart from my sentiment stamp from Sending Love. Don't want to cut your stamp? Then try masking with post-it notes, washi tape or even regular tape, whatever you have on hand!

I started with stamping my masked pears and then created the sentiment around them. I then took the paper to my trimmer and cut until I got up to my pears, I finished by hand trimming around the pears and cutting a banner end. You could easily stamp this flat onto the card base but I thought this gave a bit more interest and allowed the sentiment to stand out against my inked background. I used the same green and yellow as in the pear coloring. For a bit more fun, I white embossed this awesome confetti like border stamp called Across the Border. I then stamped that tiny heart (again in the same green and yellow). I filled in with a white gel pen and added some glitter gel pen details.

Looks simply but this little cutie did take some time to create (just like most of our cards do!)

Check out the sets I used today!

Thanks for stopping in today and checking out my project!
See you back here tomorrow for more stamping fun!

Kissing Candy Canes ~Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbon~

Hi everyone, I'm sharing a holiday card today for Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbon. I think it's fun that it's obviously a holiday card but not overly Christmas. The design could easily be swapped out with so many other die cut choices and sentiment options. I can see myself using this again and again, also a great design to recreate for multiple Christmas cards.

The vellum background pieces was stamped with an angle stripe background stamp. Stamped in a sticky embossing powder that becomes sticky once heated. I then applied my loose glitter. Try as I might I couldn't get a good photo but it really brings this otherwise simple card to life!
Here are my sets I used for my card...
Kissing Bunnies
Candy Cane Mouse
So excited for this coming weekends blog hop....super ready to see what my fellow DT sisters have created...and I can't wait to share my layout with you all! I'll see you then!
