Bookmark Clips ~Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbon~

 Bookmark Clips

Hi folks! I'm here today to share something I made today with teachers in mind. Something for Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbon. I was inspired by the upcoming teacher appreciation week at school and while I was emailing doing room-mom duty, I had this idea! Of course, these are pretty darling for any reader out there and when my daughter saw them, she wanted one. So I know kiddo's would like it as well. These would be easy to lamenate however I cut extra layers so these are rather sturdy.

These are super easy to create using any design software from your electronic cutters. Simply put your images together, group and weld. That will create a base shape where you can then layer the other die cuts. Much easier then a bunch of single images.

The clip, books and apple were the 3 image sets that were welded together. To make this extra sturdy, 2 other layers cut in thicker card stock were added to the back. Also, if giving this as a gift, it leaves a fun spot to write a little something. These can also be sized into whatever you'd prefer. I did make these guys pretty large at over 10 inches in length.

Because of the length, they are better more tucked into the book then using the actual "clip". If you didn't want so much at the top, then you can size it differently or design something that doesn't sit as tall above the clip portion. I'm already thinking of doing more of these with a different design for my bible study girl friends!

And here are the files I've used...

Bug Me Anytime ~Craftin Desert Divas Crafty Tip~

Bug Me Anytime

Hi friends, Leah Schaeffer with you today to share a crafty tip! Of course, there are so many amazing ideas out there in the crafty world and I'll admit that it was tough no narrow something down. Once I started looking at my dies, I remembered how you can emboss or impress a die into card stock without really cutting. Creating a subtle background like in my example card or endless other ideas!

I really wanted this to stand out a bit more so I added some acrylic paint over the embossed scallop. Rubbed the color on and removed the excess with a paper towel. The paint sank into the lines and by wiping it off, gave a white wash appearance to the paper. Inking the edges added a bit more detail and depth. The rest of the design came together by adding tiny paper blooms and some CDD confetti pieces.

So let me explain how I created this with the dies. Start with a rubber mat, these can be purchased at many craft stores. If you don't own any, then you can think about playing with fun foam. The layers go: rubber mat, paper, die (impression side down) and then cutting plate. Looking forward to trying more and sharing with you all in the future!

When I was thinking about what to do for this challenge, I came across this stamp from CDD and I thought it was perfect because swan's are such an elegant beauty in nature. A wonder to me! So that's how I ended up choosing this to do. I also really wanted to play with my watercolors so it all went together quickly after that!

I added some pearlized paint to the colors so all the color has such a lovely, soft but bold shimmer! And for, for fun...I ended up turning it into a shaker card!

This beautiful image was part of a freebie we had before (awful but it's no longer for sale), but no worries, there's other CDD goodies you can still snag if you've not done so!

Super glad you came by today!

Crafty Valentines ~Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbon~

Crafty Valentines
Leah sharing with you today and I've got a couple valentine cards I made for 2 of my girlfriends. One is a scrapbooker, one is not. But they both know that I am big into paper crafts so I thought these were perfect. There is something that goes back to my childhood with my love of office supplies. So when Lisa created this new set, I just knew right away I wanted to play with them!
I kept the design simple with a mix of a stamped sentiment and die cut sentiment. Then added some hearts to complete the valentine theme. I also used the stitched die cut shape for some background interest.

A little Wink of Stella on the hearts and black sentiment and that finished it up!

Quick post for this Monday, but I appreciate you coming by today! Have a great week!

So this very weekend, I'm away at a cabin with some of my very closest friends! A first time for all of us to get away together and you know I'm having a blast! I thought since it's also Valentines weekend, I would make something cut for one of our dinners. I made place setting cards and then for something extra, will put a little bag of candy on each plate. Something small, but festive.

With the glitter paper, I didn't think these babies needed much else. But I did outline and add glitter pen to the rainbow curve and to the hearts.

Over Valentines weekend I am getting to spend the weekend with some of my best friends! This will be our first time ever going away together as a group and we are SO excited! I wanted to do something for each girl so I made them each a card!

I did no line stamping. Most images stamped in Old Paper Distress Ink or in Pumice Stone. Each was watercolored using Kuretake Gansai Tambi paints.
The tiny hearts were added with Worn Lipstick Distress Ink over a stencil. And of course, the darling heart dies from the CDD Pocket Pieces Hi die set!

And the loooooooong list of supplies...
